The dollar coin was inspired by Sacagawea. With the sunrise over her right shoulder, she is gazing westward, ready to explore the unknown frontier. Sacagawea nickname "Bird Woman" or "Boat Launcher," has to do with the birds and boats on the coin. The date 2003 (varies) but the main reason was for the 200th anniversary of the Louisiana Purchase in 1803. The coin is expected to be the same size, weight, and thickness as the former Susan B. Anthony.
