Snake River

    The Corps of Discovery took Snake River to Columbia.  Some of the men wrote that the current were "swifter than any horse could run."  They faced succession tumbling, swirling rapids.  They also dashed hidden rocks.

    The Snake River was formerly the Lewis River.  It is northwest U.S.  It is the chief tributary of the Columbia River.  It is about 1670 km (1038 miles) long.
    It forms boundries between Oregon and Idaho also between Idaho and Washington.
