Mike has just arrived at Green Mountain Lodge. Carrie: Austin is not going to show up here. I don't know why I was thinking that he would
telepathically connect with me and know to come here. He's given up on us. He's give up on our
future for Sami and Will and I have to accept that.
Carrie turns and faces him. Carrie: The reason that I left the hospital last night and drove to Marlena's was to
distance myself from you. I didn't trust myself to be alone with you and I was afraid that I
would want you to comfort me.
Carrie: When you first knocked on the door, I was hoping that it was Austin, but then I thought, 'How would he know I was here?'. But you did, and you always know what's going on inside my heart and you always are there when I need you, saying the right things. It's taken me a long time, but I finally realized that you're the man that I can count on. Mike: It's because I'll always be here for you. No matter what happens, I will always be here for you, Carrie. It's because I'll always love you. He reaches up and touches her face gently. Mike: I just love you so much. Carrie gazes up at him and their lips meet in a passionate kiss. The kissing continues and Mike lifts Carrie effortlessly off the floor. He carries her over to the bed and lays her down softly. They continue kissing, until Mike's conscience gets the best of him. Carrie: What's wrong?
Mike gets off the bed. Carrie: How can I be a wife to Austin if he is not here? There is no marriage anymore,
Mike. Austin is with Sami.
Mike: I want you so much, but I can't. I won't be responsible for coming in between you and Austin. Carrie: Mike, there is no Austin and me. Not anymore. Carrie walks over to the window and looks out. Mike: I've made no secret of my feelings for you, Carrie. I love you...I love you. Carrie turns around and looks at him. She walks over to him slowly. Mike: I'll do anything I can to help you through this. But I'm afraid...I'm afraid that if I don't go now, I'm never going to leave you. Mike: You came here to be alone, and I intruded on you. Carrie tries to interrupt him. Mike: Listen, you were right. I think you need some space and some time to clear your mind and decide what you want in your life, and who you want in your life. And listen, no matter what you decide, all I want for you is to be happy...Goodbye. Mike picks up his jacket, and Carrie walks over to him.
Carrie: I need you to stay with me, Mike. It's time that we face the truth - both of us - especially me. And the truth is...I love you. Mike closes his eyes and lets the moment come over him. Carrie stands on her tiptoes and kisses Mike softly. Carrie pulls away from the kiss moments later. Carrie: This isn't right, Mike. I do...I love Austin.
Mike: I mean it. Now that I know how you feel. Now that I know that you love me, I'm going to hang onto you for dear life. Carrie: Mike... Mike: No, no...wait. I'm not going to force you to do anything that you can't handle either. Carrie: I just know that I can't be along with you in this room. Either you have to leave or we should both go. Mike: Okay. They both hear a noise outside the window, and Mike goes to check it out. A little bit later... Carrie: This is insane. My life is falling apart.
Carrie looks at him intensely, and then walks over to the window. Mike joins her, and puts his hand on her shoulder. Mike: Listen to me. Nothing happens without a reason. This storm is forcing us to stay
here and admit our feelings for each other. We can't go back.
Mike takes her by the shoulders and kisses her softly. They are interrupted by a knock on the door, and Mike goes to answer it. It is room service. Mike: You will feel better after you eat something.
After dinner... Carrie: You were right. Eating helped...a little anyway.
Carrie smiles across the table at Mike and stands up. He takes her in his arms, and they hold each other. Mike: I can't even tell you how good it feels just to be able to tell you that I love you. Carrie: (smiling) Yeah. Mike: My God, I've waited so long to say that. And to hear you say it back to me. Listen, everything's changed. We can't go back now. Carrie: (shaking her head doubtfully) I guess not. Mike: Don't be sad. Our love was meant to be. I believe that, and you believe that, don't you? Carrie: (facing him) I do. But our love comes at such a high price, Mike, and as much as I love you, I'm afraid what that love will cost all of us. Mike: (nodding and taking her in his arms) That's okay. |
