Rev. Nørb From Boris The Sprinkler
1. Well first things first what's your name what do you do in Boris The
Sprinkler, and what Boris's current line up?
My name is Eric Number Five Thousand Two Hundred and Eighty. I play the bass
kazoo, third class. Boris' current line up is Rev. Nørb on vocals, Paul #1 on
guitar, Tim Double Zero on bass and Paul #2 on drums. Oh, and myself on bass
kazoo, of course.
2. How long has Boris The Sprinkler Been Around?
Since the night of the ShopKo fireworks, 1992. With this lineup, since
September 1997.
3. Were you in any bands before Boris The Sprinkler was around?
Yes.
4. How did you come up with the name "Boris The Sprinkler"?
Well, we wanted to call the band "Horace Pinker," but that was already taken,
so we just took something that rhymed.
5. What are some of the bands you dig?
I think the seven best bands of all time are the Ramones, the Beatles, the Sex
Pistols, the Clash, Cheap Trick, The Replacements, and the Dickies -- but
whadda i know? I'm merely a no-account bass kazooist! Various members of Boris
(or just me) have been known to dig the Spaceshits, Bobbyteens, Infections,
Loli & the Chones, Tweezers, Queers, Mr. T Experience, Groovie Ghoulies,
Beatnik Termites, Chixdiggit, Nobodys, Figgs, fuck, i'm just making this shit
up as i go along anyway. In the van we like listening to the first Psychedelic
Furs LP, the first Cheap Trick LP, and both Plimsouls records.
6. What has been your favorite and least favorite bands to tour with, and why?
The only bands we ever officially "toured" with were the Riverdales and Mr. T
Experience, so i'll arbitrarily say that the Mr. T Experience were our
favorite band to tour with and the Riverdales were our least favorite band to
tour with, just to start some shit.
7. You just released a double live C.D. (which is great), a 10" with
some rare comp tracks, you have a 45 coming out on lookout, and just got
out of the recording studio. How many releases total does Boris have?
Fuck, like three regular CDs (new one upcoming), one Ramones covers LP/CD, one
double live CD, something like six split 45s, eight regular 7-inches, one live
7-inch, one one-sided weird ten-inch, and a bunch of other odds and
ends...however many that adds up to i have NO clue...
8. When should the new record be out and what will it be called?
I'm not sure when it will be out (it's all recorded, though). I think we're
going to call it "SUCK."
9. How was working with lookout? I know the Queers, Screeching
Weasel, and the Vindictives Were not to fond of the label.
It's been okay thus far, they did everything they said they were gonna do so
far. Ask me this question again in like six months or something.
10. You have your own label Bulge. What acts are currently on there?
Whilst i have put out records by the Spent Idols, Last Sons of Krypton, and
Tantrums, in addition to records by Boris and Boris/Meatmen and Boris/Sonic
Dolls splits, right now, the only band who is officially "on" Bulge, as in
"may very well have another record out on the label someday" is Boris, and, as
it's looking, WE might not even be on Bulge for long. Not a lotta bulge in
that Bulge.
11. What is your favorite pre-90's t.v. show?
"Monty Python's Flying Circus." Three-way tie for second: "Star Trek"/"The
Monkees"/"Batman." (interesting trivia fact: Julie Newmar is the only
actress/actor known to me to have been on "Star Trek," "The Monkees" and
"Batman" -- playing the first Catwoman on "Batman," a hot laundromat babe on
an episode of "The Monkees," and a bitchy, knocked-up alien queen on "StarTrek")
12. How big is your record collection?
As big as a whale, or so i've heard.
13. I've noticed you making a lot of references to Asian chicks. (or at
least enough for me to notice) Why is that?
If you gotta ask, you'll never know, junior.
14. You might not be the one to ask but how did tim#00 break his knee?
His official story is that he "tripped over a volleyball net." Don't ask me,
maybe he was trolling for carp.
15. Do you have a favorite Boris The Sprinkler Record? If so which one,and why?
I kind of like the "113º Uomo" Italian 7-inch, because it rocks and i cut off
the ending PERFECTLY on "113th Man."
16. What is the worst job you ever had?
Going door-to-door trying to raise political contributions for the Wisconsin
Action Coalition. ONE DAY OF PURE HELL. I hate people.
17. Last Question - If you could be any one who ever lived who would it
be, and why?
Julie Newmar, so i could have been on "Star Trek," "The Monkees," and
"Batman." Also, masturbation would be a lot more fun.
