The opening conference business session began with a presentation by the St. Louis Osuwa Taiko Drum Corps.

As part of the opening ceremonies, the flags of each nation represented at the conference were brought in.
John Menzies and Carley Cole were presented the Human Rights Award.
President Grant McMurray (right) receives the first translation of the RLDS Doctrine and Covenants into the Russian language. The presentation is made by Europe Region Administrator Michael Menzel (center) and Pavel Kabanov (left) who did the translation.
