Lambs 2010 - The Spice Year

This year's lamb crop brought a dozen newcomers to the flock. Savannah (fawn) and Tamarack (fawn katmoget) started things off with twin katmoget girls April 10. Sadly one of the girls wandered from mom in the night and got tangled in a fence. She was chilled when I found her and died despite my best efforts to warm her. Her sister Nutmeg (fawn katmoget) is a keeper. Photos finally!

Roanoke (moorit katmoget) and Ethel (light moorit) were next on April 11th with twin moorit krunet boys, Peppercorn and Tarragon. Since I plan to use Roanoke another year his sons are available.

The same day Tamarack and Patsy Cline (mirk faced white) produced split twins, Sea Salt (white ewe) and Sage (black katmoget ram). Unfortunately, Sage's tail is unacceptable, too long and too wooly and he has been wethered. Sea Salt has an acceptable tail and is available, her dam will also be available. Patsy has a high yielding, dense, long, lustrous fleece, but she has produced unacceptable tails two years in row. She has produced good tails too.

Calais (mioget moonspotted/moorit) and Roanoke had a single moorit katmoget girl, Caraway April 17. Caraway is available.

Oregano and Coriander are twin boys sired by Roanoke and out of Dresden (emsket). I'm not quite sure what to make of their coloring. They are light on top and black underneath like katmogets, but do not have typical katmoget markings on their faces. Oregano also has two solid black spots on his neck and back. Coriander is a bottle baby and I am not comfortable selling a ram lamb that has been bottle fed as I find they tend to be disrespectful as adults. He's a lovely lamb though. Reggie is available. The boys arrived May 1st.

We took a bit of break while waiting for Hawthorn's lambs to arrive. He didn't get his girls until mid December. It was worth the wait though as Atlanta (white) and Hawthorn (black) produced tiny replicas of themselves on May 11. Marjoram, a white ewe, is a keeper, but her brother Basil, a black ram, is available. Still need a photo of Marjie and would like a better photo of Basil, it doesn't show his true black color.

Last, but certainly not least, Hawthorn and Dolly Parton (white) produced opposites. Rosemary, black with white facial markings, and Cayenne, white ram, arrived May 18. Rosemary hasn't stopped bouncing since she came out her mother's womb, she's a keeper and named after my late aunt. Cayenne will be available.

I LOVE this photo of Rosemary!
