Rovings

The wall of wool is threatening to engulf the house so I am more than happy to share the wealth. There are quantities of shetland rovings, colors ranging from white to gray, to black, fawn and brown. I have also developed an alpaca fiber addiction....it's very sad. Time to let a few bags go:

Shetland roving (natural) $20.00/lb. or $2.00/oz
Dyed shetland roving $30.00/lb. or $3.00/oz
Shetland top $35.00/lb. or $3.50/oz
Alpaca roving $45.00/lb. or $4.50/oz

Fawn and red alpaca

Before I really understood how alpaca fiber worked I sent the whole bag of fleece off to be processed; prime, seconds and dreck. The resulting rovings are a bit mixed and wanting to felt. They spin up with a lot of luster, one of the few rovings I can spin into a bulky weight. Price on these rovings will be drastically reduced to $25.00/lb. or $2.50/oz. The colors appear washed out in the sun. They are really a rich dark chocolate in color:

They're here! Thery're here! The last of the 2011 fleeces have been processed into rovings. The shetland rovings are at the top of the page. The rovings below are shetland blended with alpaca. The blended rovings are Sage (gray), Basil (black), Tamarack (fawn) and Calais (moorit). They are priced $35.00/lb. and $3.50/oz, though I must say Sage looks like a million bucks!
