Sheep for Sale

It's finally time to start cutting back, I'll be slowly phasing out my shetland flock. Much as I enjoy the sheep I am reaching a point where I can no longer care for them 100% by myself. I will still keep a few around as a spinner's flock, but the sheep are too darn prolific to keep breeding. The sad thing is my core flock has developed into some really solid, lovely animals. I guess that isn't really sad, it's just that I don't want to see all my years of careful selection lost. Therefore, though I'll be keeping a few favorites, I'll be letting my very best go. I'm not in a huge hurry and deciding who I'll keep will require the wisdom of Solomon (which I don't happen to have).

Available rams:

Chai, fawn katmoget sired by Lugthart Tamarack out of Cherry. Chai has an exceptionally crimpy, consistent fleece; tightly curled horns and his father's tidy tail and squared off rear.

Gladstone, light gray ram lamb sired by Wintergreen out of Caraway. Gladstone is a growthy ram lamb with a good horn set; fine, crimpy fleece. One of my herdsires this year.

Melbourne, gray ram lamb sired by Wintergreen out of Mimosa. As much as I didn't want to like this fellow, he brought me around with his overall quality.

Ewes for sale:

Cherry, moorit ewe sired by Galveston out of Ophelia. Cherry is my ideal ewe, beautiful structured, correct tail, uniformly crimpy fleece. If I were to fault her at all (which is hard to do), I would like just a little more staple length. She's is the best ewe I've ever bred and the only reason I would sell her is I don't want to see her genes lost to the gene pool.

Caraway, 4 year old moorit katmoget ewe has inherited her father's (Roanoke) fine, crimpy fleece and his woolier than ideal tail. I had no plan to keep her until I reevaluated her fleece, she stayed. The tail is a fault, but her fleece is lovely. Click here to view her pedigree.

Leda, gray katmoget 2 year old ewe sired by Tamarack (fawn katmoget) out of Loblolly (white, moorit eye patch). Leda and her dam Loblolly appear to carry the polled gene. Both girls have produced rams with tiny scurs. I don't plan to breed for that trait so both girls and their offspring are available. Loblolly's white twins are available, Perth (ram lamb) and Brisbane (ewe). Leda's katmoget ram lamb, Tasmania has a uniformly crimpy fleece, but I'm not liking his rear assembly just know. Both boys sired by Wintergreen. Click here to view Leda's pedigree.

Jasmine, shaela ewe sired by Mercury, out of Underhill Ethel. I waited years to get an ewe out of Ethel so it breaks my heart just a little to let Jasmine go. She's another who has more to contribute to our breed. Could carry the modified gene.

Red Rose, a lovely twin moorit katmoget ewe sired by Lugthart Tamarack out of Magnolia. I have too many pretty katmogets to keep them all.

Tetley, a twin white ewe sired by Mercury and out of Marjoram. She has a supremely crimpy fleece, a little smaller statured ewe.

There are a couple of this year's lamb crop available.

Sydney, white with moorit yuglet markings. Sired by Wintergreen (gray), out of Rosemary (black).

Gold Coast, twin moorit katmoget ewe lamb. Sired by Roanoke, out of Magnolia.

Adelaide, black ewe lamb, sired by Wintergreen out of Cherry.

Pictures coming soon (yes, really) and fleece samples available on request.
