So, you want to go to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and you want to stay in a really nice condominium at a really nice resort. Well, I have just the place for you, especially if you also like golf or tennis. If you are familiar with Myrtle Beach you'll already know that it is a very exciting vacation destination. There are many shopping and eating places, as well as many and touristy things to do, and there are literally thousands of people on the beach every day. Many are just soaking up the sun and walking along the shoreline, but there also many who are running around throwing frisbees, footballs, volleyballs and possibly just causing chaos. You don't want yourself or your kids to be run over during a game of beach football. The solution to this is to go about 20 miles south of the airport and rent my beautiful two bedroom oceanfront condo at Litchfield Beach and Golf Resort. Bridgewater 526, to be exact. In fact, the picture above is the view you will have from my balcony. If you are interested here is a map of the resort.
At Litchfield Beach and Golf Resort you will find the perfect family vacation spot with miles of uncrowded beaches in a safe, secure, gated community. Because of its location you will not find the multitude of crowds and the occasional rowdy behavior that you may experience in Myrtle Beach. What you will find is one of the finest collection of housing and condominium accommodations anywhere along the Atlantic Ocean.
If you like to golf, then this is Mecca. There are over 90 golf courses located along the Grand Strand, many of which are definetly championship caliber. Many are designed by the names we've all grown accustomed to, and associate with championship golf. At Litchfield Beach and Golf Resort you will find not only the beautiful beach but you will also find 3 on site golf courses. In fact, Litchfield Golf and Beach Resort has been rated by Conde' Nast Traveler Magazine as "one of the top 50 Golf Resorts in the world."
If you happen to like tennis then you have found the right place. Litchfield Beach and Golf Resort has been rated as the # 5 Tennis Resort in America, by Tennis Magazine. There is also a health club, several restaurants, conference and banquet facilities, and did I mention, several miles of beautiful beach.
There are several restaurants which I would like to recommend as well. Two which are close by. The first is the Litchfield Beach Fish House, which is just south of the main entrance to Litchfield. It is on the left hand side of the road just after you go through the light past River Club. The building is a little shabby looking, inside and out, and has a huge shark sticking out of the roof, but don't let the looks of the place fool you. They have some of the best fresh seafood around. A great place to stop for lunch. Try the fish stew, if it's available.
The next place is about three miles south of Litchfield, in Pawleys Island, and is also on the left hand side of the highway. It is a very nice restaurant known as Frank's. You can do a quick cybervisit here to check out the ever changing menu. Reservations are strongly recommended and you can't go wrong by eating here. I've eaten here many times over the years and never been disappointed. They have a superb wine list and also sell cigars at the bar, for those who are interested.
On the evenings that you choose to go up north, to take in the shows or to do some shopping at BAREFOOT LANDING you may wish to try another of my favorite restaurants,Chestnut Hill. It is elegant dining, but in a very casual atmosphere. I have not eaten there in the last year but it has always been one of my favorites. Try the She Crab Soup. It is very rich and very good.
If your tastes run to Italian, as mine do, then I urge you to try Rossi's. It is located in the Galleria, in the Restaurant Row area, not too far from BAREFOOT LANDING. I've eaten there many times and it is always superb. Like Frank's, they have a great wine list.
I have been visiting Myrtle Beach for over 35 years and spent many hours strolling those beautiful beaches allowing the sound of the surf take me away from it all. When I was a student at West Virginia University I spent two summers working as a telephone operator. That was back in the days when if you dialed "0" and a male said "Operator" you would probably hang up, thinking you had the wrong number. I worked from 5:30pm until 2:00am therefore I had plenty of time to walk on the beach and pick up shark's teeth.
Since that time my dream was to have a place at Litchfield Beach, where I could get away from it all. Maybe one day to retire there. I would like for you to share in my dream also.
