CECIL
Cecil is your main character. He is a Dark Knight with an equally dark past. He is Captain of Baron's Red Wings. Cecil's love is Rosa, the White Wizard. He is an awesome fighter and will later be able to use some White Magic once a Paladin.
KAIN
Kain is a Dragoon. His Jump ability will prove to be quite useful throughout your quest. However, Kain is bound to piss you off more than once.
RYDIA
Rydia is the last of the Callers. You unknowingly destroy her village and feel obligated to protect her. At first, she can use both White and Black Magic on top of her Summoning abilities. Later on, she can only use Black Magic, but it is very strong.
TELLAH
Tellah is a Sage. He first joins you because he needs help in retrieving his daughter, Anna, who eloped with a Bard to Damcyan. Tellah's ability to wield both Black and White Magic will prove to be quite helpful in the duration of your quest.
EDWARD
Edward is the Bard that Tellah's daughter eloped to be with. However, he was only disguised as a Bard. Edward is really the Prince of Damcyan. He is a poor fighter and cannot use magic. You only fight with him for a short period of time. However, he will prove to be of great help later in the game.
ROSA
Rosa is a White Wizard and Cecil's lover. She can cast powerful White Magic. She also has the Aim ability, which nearly doubles the damage inflicted from her arrows. Rosa will prove to be quite useful throughout your journey.
YANG
Yang is a Karate Master of Fabul. He is a good fighter and will be of significant help in your quest. You will lose him later in the game when he performs a very selfless act.
PALOM AND POROM
Palom and Porom are two mischievous, young wizards. Palom is male and casts Black Magic, while his twin sister, Porom, casts White Magic. These youngsters will help guide you through a very important quest in finding yourself. You also lose them through a selfless act.
CID
Cid is the Master Engineer of Baron. He is a good fighter and repairs your airships numerous times throughout the game. Cid saves your butt quite a few times too!
EDGE
Edge is a Ninja from Eblan. During a journey to seek and destroy Rubicant, the Fire Fiend, with his mom and dad, the King and Queen of Eblan, he and his parents are separated. Dr. Lugae gets a hold of the King and Queen and transforms them into monsters. Edge is infuriated and seeks revenge. Edge is an excellent fighter. If his fighting abilities and Ninja technique are not enough, his Throw ability will more than make up for that. Edge is one of my favorite characters.
THE BIG WHALE
The Big Whale takes you to the moon. After praying from the Tower of Wishes, he arises from the sea. In the Whale is an inn and a Fat Chocobo.
FUSOYA
FuSoYa is a Lunarian. He has very powerful magic, but dies rather easily. He also gives you a lot of information that will heat up the plot even more than it already is at the time you encounter him.
GIOTT AND LUCA
Giott is the King of the Dwarves, and Luca is his daughter. Giott will help you quite a few times in the duration of your journey. He gives you much advise.
THE FOUR FIENDS
As in FFI, there are four Elemental Fiends. Milon is the Fiend of Earth (rather than Lich), Kainazzo is the Fiend of Water (rather than Kraken), Valvalis is the Fiend of Air (rather than Tiamat), and Rubicant is the Fiend of Fire (rather than Kary). The Fiends will try to block your path at various points in the game.
GOLBEZ
Golbez is the one who is trying to retrieve all the Crystals to get to the moon. He wants to get to the moon to use its power to destroy earth. Golbez feeds off of hatred and is under Zemus' control. Golbez plays a very important role in the plot of FFII. You will run into him more than once.
ZEMUS
Zemus is the one who is truly behind all of the chaos on Earth. Once he is defeated, hatred transforms him into Zeromus. Zeromus is your final battle. Good luck!
