Before seeing Bo again after many years, Hope was in love with Bo's older brother Roman, competing with Marlena for his affections. But when it became clear that she would never have Roman she fell for Brady rebel, Bo. They had a stormy romance, but ended up marrying in England. Afterward they had a son, Shawn Douglas, and sailed around the world in Bo's boat, the "Fancy Face."
For a while Bo believed that his precious Hope was dead and he had other relationships while she was gone. While he had a relationship with Billie Reed, a woman named Gina appeared. Gina looked indentical to Hope and it began to raise questions about if she was really Hope. Later it was revealed that Gina was in fact Hope and after a long period of sadness, Billie left Salem to let Bo and Hope be together
Hope's Kidnaping & "Death"Bo and Hope were working undercover at the Blue Moon Lounge to catch drug dealer, Jude St. Clair. While Hope worked as a bartender, Jude became obsessed with her.
Hope soon traveled to Aremid, Maine to attend Jennifer and Peter's wedding. Shortly after she left, Bo got word that Jude had headed there to meet with his boss, so he followed.
Jude spotted Hope there and realized she was really a very classy woman and that she had led him on. He did not know she was an undercover police officer. He soon vowed to have her and he kidnaped her. In her struggle to escape, she stabbed him and put his eye out, but she did escape.
Hope returned to Aremid to continue to repair her relationship with bo. Jude wanted revenge more than ever, but with the police after him, he went into hiding in a distant mountain cabin.
On the day John's murder trial was to begin, bo, Hope and Shawn Douglas headed to the mountains to go skiing. Hope left for the other side of the mountain to ski on her own. As she was headed down the slope, sudden avalanche trapped her. Bo and the local patrol organized a search party. They searched for several days with no results. They then called of the search and assumed Hope was dead. Jude found Hope. He pulled her out of the snow and nursed her back to health while holding her hostage in his cabin. Once her strength returned, Hope tried to escape, but never succeeded in getting away from Jude. He tried many times to rape her and he talked about selling her to slavery.
Even though Bo had planned a memorial service for her, in his heart he knew Hope was still alive. He set out for one last search for her. After Jude caught Hope trying to signal Bo, he planned to get rid of her. Hope even convinced him they could work together by selling her, then escaping just to be sold again.
Hope was finally able to escape the cabin and took off into the woods with Jude close on her trail. Bo soon found them and a fight ensued. Once Jude was on the ground, Bo and Hope embraced. Jude got up and pulled a gun. As Bo and Jude struggled for the gun, Bo was shot and passed out. Jude then disappeared into the woods. Bo was taken back to the pub to recover. Once reunited, Bo and Hope finally admitted their love for each other and the couple and their son, Shawn Douglas, became a family again and returned to Salem.
Currently Bo and Hope are being kept apart because Billie is pregnant with Bo's child, even though Bo and Hope are still very much in love with each other. I know that it seems hopeless for these two right now, but I know in my heart that once this situation with Billie is resolved, Bo and Hope will find their way back to each other and to the love that they once shared
Hope's Wedding Letter to BoI'm writing this letter to you on the morning of our wedding. I'm going to put it away in a special place, and one day, years from now, I'll show it to you. Gran gave me the idea. She wrote a letter to Grandpa on their wedding day. She wrote all her feelings, her hopes, and dreams, so that one day they could look back and remember how their life together began. I want us to do that too. As I write, I'm looking inot the future, to that day when you finally read this. What will we be like? How will we feel when that day finally arrives? I'll be leaving for the church in a little while. I'll take your hand and pledge my love to you for all eternity. I'm so excited, so happy. And yes, a little frightened. But mostly I'm filled with this incredible emotion that wells up inside me. It overflows and reaches every part of me, giving me such joy, such happiness. It's such a wonderful emotion. I'm not sure what to call it. A little word like love doesn't seem big enough to describe it. I guess there is no other word, so in the end I'm right back where I started, with no word to truly express the depth of my love, the joy of my emotion, the certainty of my commitment. I just want you to know that on this day, and every day thereafter, I will thank God for you, and I will love you from the bottom of my heart, from the depths of my soul, forever.
"I finally agreed to a memorial service for Hope. I still can't believe that she's gone. To be so close to having her back and then to have her taken away . . . the pain is almost unbearable. The first time I lost her was hard enough but this time . . . this time is much worse. I should have been there for her. If I'd just told her that-that I love her, she might not have gone up on that mountain to ski, or at least we would have been there together and I could have been there with her. Now I've lost her and I'll never be able to forgive myself."
"Bo, Sean D. and I are going skiing. I was so happy when Bo suggested it. Maybe it could be a new beggining for us, a chance to get back the love that we once shared. Or is it too late? I don't know. All I do know is that I love him. I love him with all my heart and I always will, and I can only pray that one day, he'll love me again."
She looks at the world through eyes of kindness Her hair glistens with the brilliant glow of stars Her face reflecting certainty and expectation Faith and hope turns always to the light.
And her lips touch our souls with kisses too sweet to remember without tears of joy She stands cloaked in warmth and tenderness and mystery She is love, precious love to the fortunate she comes once, but never again so guard her with every strength in you never let her go
