Day 16, and the Alabama Boy's Club is down one member at Ulong. James had been sent packing the previous night. Just Bobby Jo and Ibrehem are left. And of course, Stephenie. She may not be from Alabama, but she is THE key member of Ulong. Nobody gets voted off without her approval. She had originally voted for Ibrehem last night, torn between an alliance with both BJ and James. In the end, she went with BJ and James was booted. All three remaining Ulongians can hardly believe how badly they have been trounced. Over at Koror, Tom does his crunches on the beach, limbering up for the great shark hunt. Ian returns from a morning swim with a huge clam, about two feet across in size. Inside are several pounds of meat. Let the clam bake begin! When through, the empty clam is deposited at the water's edge. Still filled with some meat and blood, it attracts a shark close to shore. Ian and Gregg attempt to kill it with their home-made spears. But honors go to Machete Tom, who boldly strikes at the beast, slashing it in half. The rest of the tribe is amazed! Tom slices up the shark and steaks are tossed on the fire. It's a good day to be a member of Koror, and a great day for Tom!
Day 17 and it's time for one of our favorite Reward Challenges, the S.O.S. com- petition. Each must prepare a signal to attract an airplane which will judge their SOS by creativity and effectiveness. Katie and Caryn lend artistic sup- port and Gregg lends the muscle power. The rest of Koror rests or tends to mundane chores. Both tribes use bamboo and such to spell out words. Ulong, ever creative, spells out their tribe's name. Koror, being clever and witty, spells out "GOT FOOD?". The big difference is that Koror's was more larger, with a big arrow pointing to the message, and on a larger beach, thus more easily seen. Koror does everything bigger. They must have heard The Donald's infamous quote, "Think BIG, or stay home!" Koror wins and Jeff drops to them a case of MREs and some wine. Koror celebrates. Ulong moans and groans as they soon figure out that they've lost again.
Day 18 begins at Koror with another whining session from Coby. Today he bitches about Gregg and Jenn. Tom is also suspicious of the couple. Gregg and Jenn know this, so Gregg keeps some distance between them. But Jenn isn't happy about that. She wishes Gregg was more focused on her than on The Game and the million bucks. Bobby Jo gets a big clam and catches a fish. Ulong scarf's down the protein and hopes it gives them an edge in the next Immunity Challenge. Speaking of which…
Tree-mail announces the IC and gives each tribe a small star puzzle, one of those movable tile toys, to practice with. The tribes gather after a bit and Jeff explains that one member guides two others as they solve the puzzle. Coby guides for Janu and Jenn, BJ guides for Steph and Ib. Team Koror gets right into it and Coby quickly uses a winning strategy. After thirty minutes, they are almost done. Steph takes over from BJ, who has made no progress at all. Too little, too late. Koror wins it's 6th straight IC.
Ulong returns to camp. Ibrehem is shocked and dismayed by the constant failures. Bobby Jo is approached by Stephenie concerning their alliance and booting Ibrehem. But BJ is split. He and Ib are Alabama Boys. They bonded on Day One and have supported each other all along. Bobby Jo will not give Steph a commitment. So, she does the next best thing. She works on Ibrehem to secure a deal with him and boot BJ. But Ib refuses to yield. The Alabama Boys stick together. Stephenie is now on her own.
At Tribal Council, a hoarse Jeff Probst quizzes Ulong. He picks on Bobby Jo first. BJ admits to screwing up the puzzle and costing them immunity. Steph then chimes in once more about how she is frustrated by the constant defeats. Jeff rubs it in that Ulong has been beaten by every member of Koror, not just a few select players. The subject of loyalty and alliances is raised. Bobby Jo tells Jeff that he would feel bad about voting for either Ib or Steph, and isn't sure who he will vote for yet. He himself feels vulnerable. Ibrehem and Stephenie also admit to feeling vulnerable. It's time to vote. Ibrehem votes for Stephenie, she and Bobby Jo give Ib the boot. As Ibrehem walks towards Jeff to get his torch snuffed out, Stephenie turns to BJ and says, "Thank you". He saved her butt, but will they merge now? Or is there to be one more Tribal Council for Ulong to endure?
SPOILERS: Rats attack Camp Koror. Coby is getting irritated with the ladies. Stephenie is getting concerned that Bobby Jo is becoming a caveman.
