This week's episode was aptly named, though "Triangulation" would have been more accurate. Rupert did indeed swim with a shark, but Burton, Jon, and Lil assassinated him. For me, this was the saddest single episode since Hunter was booted in Season 4.
Our story begins on Night 24. Rupert cannot sleep. He wanders off by him- self to spiritually commune with his wife. Rupert misses his family, and de- sires to share with them his feats and accomplishments, his hopes, and his love. Once more, he shows us his gentle, caring side. He is at home in the wilderness, succeeding well beyond any of the others. But through all his raw, animal instincts, he is still a Man, with passion, reason, and a tender side a mile wide.
Burton and Jon awake Day 25 and begin their scheming as they go for water by themselves. The plan is to use Lil to ensnare Tijuana and Darrah, then attack the Rupert-Christa-Sandra alliance. If Rupert is not available, then they target Christa. The mutineers get their chance when Rupert goes fish- ing, and Christa and Sandra go foraging. Burton and Jon assure Tijuana and Darrah that they are safe so long as they play along. Meanwhile, Rupert sees a four-foot long shark and stalks it. Incredible! He was actually think- ing about spearing it. What Cajones!!!
Reward Challenge time. It's another obstacle course, this time a beached pirate ship. The contestants will be paired up to do their best Errol Flynn impersonations while climbing masts, swinging on ropes, sliding on sails, and ringing ship's bells in a race to the finish line. In the 1st Heat of Round One, Burton and Lil beat Darrah and Christa. In Heat 2, Rupert and Jon beat Tijuana and Sandra, despite Jon screwing up at one point. In the Final Race, Burton and Lil manage to eek-out a victory over Rupert and Jon. The prize is a day away from The Game aboard a large catamaran, stocked with pizza and beer plus a shot at deep sea fishing. Any fish caught, the contestants can keep. Jeff asks them if they wish to pass their reward to someone else. Lil immediately says no, she apologizes but wants to keep the prize for her- self. Burton, who had promised Rupert a payback for breakfast, instead gives his prize to Jon, in order to keep Lil isolated.
Day 26 finds Rupert is angry, cursing Burton and Lil as he chops a coconut back at the camp. Lil realizes her error and apologizes again to Rupert. Jon calms her down as she suffers a minor panic attack. Jon then has a private chat with Burton, which Sandra over hears. She tells Rupert how the boys are plotting against him. Rupert gets madder, but he still has confidence in Lil. Jon and Lil go off on their adventure. Lil has part of one bottle of beer, Jon loads up on the rest. They both chow down on pizza. Lil still has guilt over her choice but Jon assures her that he has everything worked out. She, Burton, and he will be the Final Three. They try fishing but catch noth- ing. Rupert asks Lil point-blank that night if Jon worked on her to betray him. She lies and says no.
Day 27 and it's Immunity Challenge time. The game is called "Killer". A dart board is divided into colored wedges for each player. Using a blowgun, they must first hit their own color. This then gives that player 'killer status'. Each player begins with three 'lives', and adding killer status gives them a fourth life. Killers may then target any other player's section. As in darts, the larger outer section is worth one life, a narrower middle section is worth two lives, and a small center section is worth three lives. A killer could then eliminate a non-killer player immediately by striking the 3X section of their colored wedge.
As the battle unfolds, everybody sucks until Rupert, Burton, and Jon obtain killer status on their first attempts. Lil and Sandra get their status on their second try. Rupert puts two hits on Darrah. Jon scores a triple on Christa, eliminating her. Burton then scores a triple against Rupert. Sandra acci- dentally hits Rupert's wedge, eliminating him. Rupert is pissed. After this, the battle winds down with Burton doing most of the killing, till it's between he and Lil at the end. Burton wins immunity.
Returning to camp, Sandra walks with Rupert. She is truly sorry for her mis- take. Rupert now knows that Burton is deliberately went after him. Working Lil, and the others, Rupert tries to keep everyone on course for booting a- nother ex-Morgan. Darrah seems to be the consensus for going. Burton and Jon have a chat about being the Final Two. They then assure Rupert that Darrah is going home tonight.
At Tribal Council, Jeff questions the group's societal order. Sandra explains that without Rupert, they would all starve. Lil disagrees, there are two men who catch fish (Burton caught one stingray--whoopee!). Burton agrees with Lil that they can get along fine without Rupert. Sandra then disses Jon for being a lazy bum. Jon strikes back at Sandra. Darrah tells Jeff she is prepared for going home tonight. It's time to vote. Sandra votes for Jon. Rupert and Christa vote for Darrah. The rest boot Rupert off. He is stunned. Jeff snuffs out our hero's torch and says little. Even Jeff looks dismayed over the betrayal.
SPOILERS: Jon gets emotional, perhaps bad news from home. Christa is accused of sabotaging the group's food supply. You go, Girl! Make the snakes starve. Hahaha!
