Day 21 finds Rupert and Tom up early, busy with chores. The two 'MEN' are hard at work, getting firewood, etc., and not too concerned about how much noise they are making. The younger, lazy folks are seen stirring in their sacks, occasionally looking up to see what all the fuss is about. Rupert complains about them, Tom complains about Rupert's hogging the spear. Tom takes a crack at fishing for the first time and bags a little fella, but feels good about it. Over at Mogo Mogo, everything is wet. Jerri curses as she wrings out her clothing. Kathy is depressed. Between the environment and their constant losing, Mogo Mogo is a lousy tribe to be on.
Tree-mail arrives and each tribe gets a small can of body paint, red for Chapera, green for Mogo Mogo. Kathy, Jerri, Shii Ann, and Lex ponder on what to do with it. They also suspect that they will gather for The Merge. Mogo Mogo decides not to use the paint, and just bring it along to the meeting. Chapera, the happy tribe, dives into the paint. They decorate themselves. The men paint bulls on themselves while the ladies paint stars and such.
Jeff greets Chapera first at the gathering. He is happy to see that they used the body paint to such effect. Then Mogo Mogo limps in. Jeff makes snide comments on the differences in attitudes between the two tribes. Kathy quips that M-M is the "sensible tribe". They are then instructed by Jeff to pair off and get to know each other. Rob and Lex, Tom and Jerri (Hmmmm), Kathy and Alicia, and Rupert with Shii Ann. Amber and Jenna remain on the beach with Jeff. Lucky Jeff! The pairings talk mostly about strategy, sensing a merge is coming. After a few minutes, all return to the gathering. Jeff is now holding a jar, filled with 5 red and 5 green buffs.
One by one, alternating between tribes, each contestant draws from the jar. The prank is to reshape the tribes and mix things up before The Merge. But Mark Burnett is foiled by the sky-gods again. Each group remains the same, except that they have switched tribes. The Chaperans are now Mogans and vice-versa. With one exception, Amber. She remains a Chaperan. Separated from her friends and from Rob, must now live with the ex-Mogans. To make matters worse, the ex-Chaperans also lost their camp and belongings. Before they go their separate ways, the ex-Chaperas have a group hug with Amber.
The new Chapera tribe is given a tour of the camp by Amber. They are all amazed and impressed. There is plenty of wood stacked, food, and many creature comforts. Over at Mogo Mogo, the new Mogans are appalled at what they find. The shelter sucks, the whole camp is dirty and disorganized. Jenna finds only one pot to boil the water in. Rob wants to build a whole new shelter. He needs to stay busy. Rob is crashing emotionally from not being with Amber. Both tribes find a basket of food. Chapera chows down, since there is no- thing for them to do, seeing as how the old inhabitants did it all al- ready. They then celebrate further by practicing hygiene for the first time in 3 weeks, using soap, shampoo, and the community tooth- brush. Mogo Mogo struggles through their feast. Alicia points out that it is good for the others to see how they lived. It will only rein- force what losers they are. You GO GIRRRL!
Day 22 and more tree-mail. The Immunity Challenge this episode will be a game of Survivor Trivia, based on past seasons and contestants. Both tribes prepare themselves. Amber moans about missing Rob and the others, and on how crucial this challenge is to her. She sus- pects that if her new tribe loses, as they often do, she will be booted. Rob is also concerned, and vows to do whatever it takes to keep her in The Game. He wants her and him to be the 2 Finalists.
Both tribes meet and Jeff explains the game. He will draw questions from a jar. It's filled with an equal number of questions on each sea- son. The first tribe to score ten correct answers wins immunity. As the challenge progresses, both tribes are neck and neck. They wind up both scoring ten right answers. The tie breaker is to correctly list in order the names of the first people voted off from the seven previ- ous seasons. Rob seems anxious and appears to be trying to mis- lead the others into giving a wrong answer. But in the end, Chapera loses. Amber is in peril now. As the tribes depart, Rob tells Lex that if he protects Amber, he will protect Lex after The Merge.
Back at camp, Kathy reveals that she over-heard what Rob said. She tells Shii Ann about it, and they are inclined to still go ahead and vote Amber off. But Amber is determined, and tries to convince Kathy that the smart move is to keep her around. Kathy finally talks with Lex and he is planning to follow through and protect Amber. Lex talks with Jerri, and explains to her why he must vote her off. Jerri thinks Lex is a fool for playing into Rob's hands. Shii Ann, Kathy, and Lex then have a final pow-wow before Tribal Council.
At TC, Jeff brings up all the changes. The new Chaperans are happy at their new home. Amber talks about her new circumstance as an outsider. Shii Ann questions the trust and tribal loyalty factors. ZZZZZZZZZ It's time to vote. Jerri votes for booting Amber, the rest go against her. Jerri takes it in stride, looking forward to chocolate.
SPOILERS: The Game is On, full throttle now. Rob finally makes an alliance with Alicia. (Could this be the moment he decides the Final 3?) But Rob's plotting may backfire on him as he betrays an alliance.
