Day 16 at Lopevi is Disgruntal Worker Day. They are all mad at John K, who
likes to nap and sit around a lot while others do the daily chores. John doesn't
seem too concerned about this attitude. Afterall, Lopevi is on a roll. Who can
stop them? At Yasur, Rory tries talking strategy with Ami and Leann. Rory
observes that it would be wise for them to dump Eliza next to keep the tribe
strong. Ami and Leann still aren't buying Rory's loyalty. They think he'll jump
back over to the men at The Merge. No Sale, Rory! He doesn't like this answer
and vows to slash and burn Yasur Tribe.
It's time for the Reward Challenge. As the two tribes gather, Lopevi is very
surprized to see Rory still around. The event itself is a semi-relay race through
an obstacle course. Each tribe sends a member to bust open a coconut and
fill a shell-bowl with it's juice. Then carry the shell through the course to fill
a glass jar at the other end. We're told that both jars hold an equal amount, even
though they are each a different shape. Hmmmm? The prize is the "Home
Cafe", complete with Folgers coffee, a coffee maker, juice, croissants, and
goodies from home. Yasur does well in this event, partly due to Scout just
simply spilling all her juice right at the start line so someone quicker can go
instead. The race is very close, with Leann beating Julie at the end. Yasur
wins! The cycle of defeat is broken!
As Yasur approaches the Home Cafe, we spot bulletin boards, loaded with pic-
tures from home. Letters from home are also there. Yasur Tribe does a group
bonding-thing, as they share stories, tears, and joy. Even Rory lightens up,
maybe he won't burn down the camp afterall?
Day 17 is a short one and focused on Lopevi. First Twila and Julie have a chat.
Julie pretends that she's been offered a spot on the Final Four by the guys,
just to win Twila's confidence. The lie seems to work. Twila and Julie decide
to work together to stay in The Game.
Day 18 and tree-mail arrives, along with a bag of marbles and a slingshot. Both
tribes get to practice before the next Immunity Challenge. Sarge drills Lopevi
while Rory does likewise at Yasur. Both are confident their team will win! As
the tribes gather for Immunity, Jeff explains the challenge. Each member will
keep shooting in turn, until all four of their tiles are broken. When one is bro-
ken, a corresponding large tile is flipped over on the ground. The target tiles
must be completely smashed, such that no piece is being held by more than
one wire. Each target is held by three wires. The strategy here is to get the
worst shooters off first. Victory comes to the tribe that breaks all 20 tiles 1st.
Initially, it is a close match, but Yasur, pumped up by coffee and Rory's marks-
manship, begins to build a lead. It stays close till the very end, when Rory uses
a second shot to completely shatter his last tile. Yasur wins Immunity!
Normally, we don't get to see the winning tribe after Immunity, but Burnett
makes an exception this time, and it was well worth it. Yasur seems very
happy to have finally won one and turned the tide. They celebrate with a round
of coffee. Rory is really happy. He showed his worth in winning this event
nearly single-handedly (with a few good shots from Scout). Rory tells Uncle
Cameraman how especially happy he was when he broke Ami's tiles and
forced her to take a seat. He knows that she is the politically strongest player
and tops his list of who needs to go next. Ami knows she needs to dump
Rory and soon. Yasur speculates that Lopevi will give Julie the boot.
Over at Lopevi, Julie's name is hardly mentioned. Chris and Chad have a chat
while gathering wood. Chad wants to boot Julie, keeping the odds even be-
tween the men and the ladies. Chris thinks John K is less trustworthy. Julie
can be turned. Besides, John K is more of a threat when the individual immu-
nity challenges begin. Later, we see John K talk with Chris. John wants Chad
out. Aside from Chad being an excellent competitor, John is worried about
how Chad may gain sympathy votes from the future jury. John then chats up
Twila and Julie about voting off Chad. They ask him if Sarge is going along?
John answers, "Yes". Twila and Julie don't looked convinced, but nod and go
along, as long as their names don't come up.
At Tribal Council, Jeff asks Chris about the back-to-back losses. Chris was
gracious, though pointed out that both losses were close ones. Chad then
talked about how he does notice when others wander off to chat, who's
talking with whom. Jeff asked Sarge about the ladies. Lea sang the praises
of Twila loud and clear. I'm starting to think that he may have a crush on her!
John K thinks Twila needs to nap more often, like he does. Julie then told
Jeff she thinks their tribe is well meshed. It's time to vote.
John K voted against Chad. The rest, "meshed" well and booted John. LOL!
Oh well, I'm sure he'll find another reality TV venue to pose before. As Jeff
snuffed out John's torch, Chris had the biggest smile.
SPOILERS: Sarge joins Twila and Julie on Nude Beach, showing his all. Rory
