The Rain

As I sit here

Listening to the early morning rain
My thoughts drift
A gentle breeze caresses the trees
Fragile leaves wave to me
In cadence

An early rising Blue Jay

Breaks the quiet with his incessant
Chirping
A squirrel skitter skatters
Across the metal roof
Of my garage

Surprisingly I am at peace with

Myself
A quiet calm pervades
My body and my soul
Rest peacefully
Today

I smile in remembrance

Of other days
When softly falling rain
Provided music
For quiet times
Of love.
