Is Shirley jackson a wacko? Shirley wrote cruelty and was it saying something from the past? She had a weird child life and faily life, also she wrote good short stories. The stories written had a lot to say but just in a different way.
Shirkey Jackson’s early life wasn’t a peaceful one. She preferred to say in her room and write poetry then go outside and play with other childern. Shirley said “ I will not tolerate having these other worlds called imaginary”. Her life in college wasn’t to great either because she dropped out and was put in a mental institute. After she was released from there her life of marriage and her happy life started. (Internet) Shirley married in1940 to Stanley Edgar Hyman. They had four childern and in that time she wrote 5 novels. Stanley and Jackson lived happily together, she wrote and he taught at a University. By the age 46 Shilrey died of heart failure. We’ll always remember her for her short stories that had the horror ending. (Harcourt and Brace) Now we all know she had a way with writing. Even tough she knows she wrote horror she wrote in a way that we all experience ever day, it’s irony. Shirley used irony in all her stories start with peaceful beginning and hatred at the ends but they are ironic. She even used irony in the lottery. These stories explaned that her life was ordinary but she still thought they were imaginary.(Brant and Current)
Shirley Jackson went though a lot in her life. Especially her child life with not wanting to except the world around us. Then in her married life she had a hard time it influenced her childern in it to. The one thing she really knew how to do was write, her books were reality then switched to cruelty by her using Irony. She might of been weird but she sure knew how to write short stories.
