What is this precious gift that has been given to me?
It fills me with life and lifts me up.
What did I do to deserve such a treasure?
It’s value beyond compare.
It brightens even the darkest of days.
It fills me with hope.
What is this precious gift that has been given to me?
It’s with me even in sorrow.
It offers a promise of what’s to come and a safe tomorrow.
It escapes description this gift.
What is this precious gift that has been given to me?
It warms me when I am cold.
It fills me with peace when I am lost.
How did I come to hold this gift so rare?
What is this precious gift that has been given to me?
It’s your regard, it’s knowing you care.
This gift so powerful so divine, you say it’s mine?
How do I hold this gift?
How do I keep it safe?
This precious gift that has been given to me…
I’ll place it in my heart and treat it with the greatest of care.
For I know I’ll never hold another of it’s worth.
I only hope that my gift to you can someday compare.
This precious gift that has been given to me…
This poem was written in honor of Jason Moss a beautiful young man who responded to a personal ad I'd placed on the net. Our time together was far too short. Sadly I don't think he will ever see this poem. I don't think he'll ever really know how deeply he touched me and how badly I wanted his love. This poem will stand in his honor. For he is truly a bright and beautiful soul.
Jason, I had but a short time to know you. However in that time I came to love you. I am sorry it's over. May the heavens bless you and keep you safe.
