BILLY ADAMS

BILLY ADAMS was born in West Branch,Michigan, and spent his early childhood in the Mio, McKinley area, before moving to Chesaning, Michigan.

Billy's uncle, Lloyd Adams, was an influence on Billy, teaching him basic guitar and introducing him to country music.

Billy remained in Chesaning, where he became Chief of Police. At about that time, Buzz Rider, "spotted" Billy, and gave him a chance to do a "Nashville Show". Buzz told Billy, "If you do good, there's more, and if you don't, that's it". Buzz liked his performance, and Billy went on to work with such stars as, Barbara Mandrell, The Statler Brothers, Mickey Gilley, Brenda Lee, and countless others. Billy also wrote and recorded "Lonely Country Singer" and "I Gotta Go Now", for Forrest Greens', RANGER RECORDS. The songs did well, and landed Billy even more "Nashville Shows".

Being content as Chief of Police, Billy never pursued a full-time entertainment career. He turned down a full-time job with Margo Smith, as her bandleader. Billy stayed in police work where he performed in elementary schools in uniform, as well as for Safety Patrol boys and girls statewide. Billy said, "I wanted to show our kids that police officers are human, just like them".

Billy served as Vice-President of the Saginaw County Police Chief's Association, and also co-founded the annual country music "Chief's Show", which has raised countless thousands of dollars for local hospitals and charities for well over 20 years!

Billy also became Mayor of Chesaning, Michigan, and later Deputy Chief of Staff for State Senator Jon Cisky in Lansing. All of this time, Billy continued to be recognized for his country music, wherever he traveled in Michigan.

He has also been commissioned an Honorary Kentucky Colonel!

On June 30th., 2000, BILLY ADAMS was inducted into the Michigan Country Music Hall of Fame. ”That was the ultimate honor”, says Adams.

Billy credits Buzz Rider, Jerry and Arlene Petty and his uncle Lloyd for his sucess.
