BOB EDWARDS


Bob Edwards was known for years throughout Northeast Lower Michigan as The Voice of Country Music. Always promoting country music on the national and local level with interviews of the famous and the up-and-coming hopefuls!

Bob Edwards was born February 10, 1942 in Rogers City, Michigan. He is married to his wife Laura and is the Father of six children.

From 1960 to 1963 Bob served in the Military as Tank Loader M-48 tanks; Jeep Driver for S-3 Division; Special Servies Entertainment Division Stage Manager for "COME BLOW YOUR HORN" and actor in "TIME LIMIT"; Produced shows with Louis Armstrong, Lionel Hampton, Ferlin Huskey, Dick and Dee Dee, The Shirells, Gene Pitney, The Cascades, and the All Pacific Entertainment Show.

Bob entered broadcasting in 1964 at WHAK in Rogers City. Also worked at WHSB Alpena, WMKC St. Ignace, WKJC Tawas City, WYTW Cadillac, WTOM-TV Cheboygan, and TV 9&10 Cadillac. Bob Edwards worked at WHAK in Rogers City as Music Director, Program Director, and Assistant Manager. Bob also was the host of "THE MORNING SHOW" from 6 a.m. until 11 a.m. Monday through Saturday.

Bob currently holds the position of News Director at WVXA (PBS) in Rogers City.

Bob has been Master of Ceremonies for numerous country shows, as well as area functions, including the Annual Posen Potato Queen Pageant for many years. The Alpena Area Junior Miss Pageant, and dances for Muscular Dystrophy fund raising.

Bob Edward has been Public Relations Director for the Thunder Bay 250 Snowmobile Races, Coordinator for the Alpena Fourth of July Parade. Shows included Grandpa Jones, Willis Brothers, Tompall and The Glaser Brothers, Loretta Lynn, Hank Williams, Jr., Faron Young, George Jones, and Tammy Wynette and others.

Bob Edwards has had the opportunity to interview many country music stars including Billy Walker, Loretta Lynn, Faron Young, Narvel Felts, Clinton Gregory, Susie Luchsinger, Ronnie McDowell, Paul Overstreet, Rodney Crowell, Stella Parton, Jeannie C. Riley, Crystal Gayle, Bobbie Randall, Emmylou Harris and others!

Bob Edwards was inducted into the Michigan Country Music Hall of Fame in 1997 at Prairieville Michigan.
