SOMEWHERE IN TIME.....

A Michigan Classic!

Michigan Magazine has spent countless hours exploring Mackinac Island and it's adventures...We've even been guests of the wonderous Grand Hotel! (SEE INFORMATION ON THAT STORY BELOW)

That's why I believe this wonderful Movie staring Christopher Reeves and Jane Seymour is a must for every true Michiganian. Besides the stars you'll see countless "local" stars who made the EXTRA list and were caputured in this timeless romance that was filmed on Mackinac Island back in 1979. The film and music score will undoubtedly wisk you away to the Island and familiar sites and sounds! Be sure and also check out the 1998 re-recording of the soundtrack!

MICHIGAN SHRINES
Michigan Magazine has visited some wonderful places of inspration in the form of religious shrines! We've visited The Shrine of the Snowshoe Priest in L'Anse, dedicated to the memory of Bishop Baraga....Our Lady of the Wood Shrine in Mio made of a mountain of Onaway stone dedicated in 1955....And of course The Catholic Shrine of Indian River..dedicated to the Blessed Kater Tekawitha, the lily of the Mohawks, and the site of the worlds tallest crucifix, designed by world renowned sculpture Marshall Fredericks (Also a former guest on Michigan Magazine). More information on these Michigan Magazine shows can be found by utilizing The Michigan Magazine Search Engine!

We have also found a very useful book you may want to acquire that lists these Michigan sites and many more throughout the state as well as throughout America called Pilgrims' Guide to America: US Catholic Shrines and Centers of Devotion. Which is currently out of print but by clicking on the title our friends at Amazon.com will make a search of thier vast resources of Book stores and dealers for a copy for you. I myself contacted an organization called OUR SUNDAY VISITOR, 200 Noll Plaza, Huntington, Indiana 46750. Or you may contact them at:(800) 348-2440.
