Sales from the book has raised over $50,000 for the Nature Conservancy and the Rainbow Connection. The Rainbow Connection is an organization that makes wishes come true for children with life-threatening illnesses.
Stranger in the Woods also won the 2000 Benjamin Franklin Award for Best Children's Picture Book! The book climbed to #2 on the New York Times best sellers list this year, and was in the top ten for 12 consecutive weeks. In Decmeber 2000 the bok was #4 on the American Booksellers List. For two weeks sales of the book out sold two of the four Harry Potter books in independent book stores nation wide.
Stranger in the Woods is one of five finalist for the American Booksellers Association 2001 Book of the Year. This award is judged by independent booksellers across the country and will be announced at Book Expo America in Chicago during June 2001.
