(1) - Jude, a bondslave of Jesus Christ and a brother of James, to the ones who have been loved by God the Father and who have been preserved for Jesus Christ and called.
(2) - Mercy to you and my desire is that your inner peace and tranquility and a relaxed mental attitude may be greatly increased.
(3) - When giving all diligence in writing to you, beloved, concerning the salvation possessed in common by all of us, I was constrained to write to you, persuading you to fight with intensity and determination by means of Bible doctrine for that which was once and for all entrusted for keeping to the saints.
(4) - For certain men have begun to infiltrate in a dishonest manner and have been received with open arms, men who had been previously written about long ago concerning their judicial sentence, unbelievers perverting the grace of God into unrestrained behavior and denying the only absolute master, even the Lord Jesus Christ.
(5) - After serious and careful deliberations I have, therefore, decided to remind you from a position of authority what you have constantly known, that first of all the Lord, having delivered the people out from the land of Egypt, then, secondly He destroyed the ones who did not believe.
(6) - And the angels who did not carefully keep their original position for which they were created, but deserted their own private dwelling place, He has kept them guarded in confined imprisonment under the authority of total and complete darkness for the purpose of the judgment in that great day.
(7) - Just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, in a similar manner to these angels, they have given themselves over completely to abnormal sexual acts, going out after a different kind of flesh from their own, cohabiting with beings of a different nature. They are used as an example to us by being held in suffering (in Hades) awaiting the justice of fire (the Lake of Fire).
(8) - Nevertheless, in a similar manner also, these thinkers of delusion, on the one hand they pollute the body, and on the other hand they constantly reject duly appointed authority and blaspheme the glory of God.
(9) - But Michael the archangel, when he was disputing with the devil, he argued concerning the body of Moses, and did not dare to add to or supplement anything reproachful in a sense of judgment, but he simply said, "May the Lord admonish and reprimand you."
(10) - But these men, on the one hand they habitually and ignorantly malign the things that they do not have a knowledge of, and on the other hand, the things that they do know and understand by natural instinct, by means of these things they are brought down to corruption and ruin.
(11) - Woe to them, because they departed from the true course and pursued after the lifestyle of Cain, and they gave themselves over to the false opinion and error of Balaam for money, and they were violently put to death in the revolution of Korah.
(12) - These men keep on being rocks of destruction in the area of your loves when they are socializing with you, shepherding (pastoring) themselves without any cause to be afraid, just like waterless clouds they are constantly being led astray under the authority of the winds of false doctrine. They are like autumn trees without fruit having died twice, and were therefore rooted up and destroyed.
(13) - Like the wild, untamed waves of the sea, they foam up their own many shames; they are like wandering meteors for whom the blackness of darkness has been reserved forever.
(14) - And Enoch, the seventh from Adam, also prophesied concerning these men, saying, "Behold, the Lord will definitely come with an innumerable number of His saints,
(15) - To execute judgment against all, and to convince all the godless concerning all their ungodly actions (mental and overt), which they did in an ungodly manner, and concerning the offensive things they said against Him (Jesus Christ)."
(16) - These apostates are always grumblers and fault finders, constantly living their lives in seeking to gratify their own lust patterns. Their speech communicates ideas which appeals to pride and guilt, flattering individuals for the sake of gaining their own advantage.
(17) - But as for you, beloved, remember the doctrines that were taught to you under the authority of the apostles concerning our Lord Jesus Christ.
(18) - How that they declared to you that there would be mockers and scoffers at the lowest periods of time (in human history) who are constantly living their lives according to the standard of their own ungodly (wicked) lust patterns.
(19) - These are the ones who are causing divisions, they are natural men, not possessing a human spirit.
(20) - But you, beloved, keep on building yourselves up by means of holy doctrine, being continually in an attitude of prayer by means of the Holy Spirit.
(21) - Guard that which belongs to you in the realm of the love of God, waiting with anticipation for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ resulting in eternal life (resulting in special eternal blessings).
(22) - And upon some rebuke or reprove them when they continually contend or dispute with you.
(23) - And others, offer deliverance snatching them out of the fire using fear, constantly detesting their apostasy which is completely contaminated from the source of the sin nature.
(24) - Now to the One who is always able to guard you from stumbling and to establish you blameless in the presence of His majesty in extreme joy.
(25) - To our only God and Savior through Jesus Christ be glory and greatness, ruling power and ruling authority before all time, and now, and forever. Amen.
JUDE, An Expanded Translation in Paragraph Form
Jude, a bondslave of Jesus Christ and a brother of James, to the ones who have been loved by God the Father and who have been preserved for Jesus Christ and called. Mercy to you and my desire is that your inner peace and tranquility and a relaxed mental attitude may be greatly increased. When giving all diligence in writing to you, beloved, concerning the salvation possessed in common by all of us, I was constrained to write to you, persuading you to fight with intensity and determination by means of Bible doctrine for that which was once and for all entrsted for keeping to the saints. For certain men have begun to infiltrate in a dishonest manner and have been received with open arms, men who had been previously written about long ago concerning their judicial sentence, unbelievers perverting the grace of God into unrestrained behavior and denying the only absolute master, even the Lord Jesus Christ.
After serious and careful deliberations I have, therefore, decided to remind you from a position of authority what you have constantly known, that first of all the Lord, having delivered the people out from the land of Egypt, then, secondly He destroyed the ones who did not believe. And the angels who did not carefully keep their original position for which they were created, but deserted their own private dwelling place, He has kept them guarded in confined imprisonment under the authority of total and complete darkness for the purpose of the judgment in that great day. Just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, in a similar manner to these angels, they have given themselves over completey to abnormal sexual acts, going out after a different kind of flesh from their own, cohabiting with beings of a different nature. They are used as an example to us by being held in suffering (in Hades) awaiting the justice of fire (the Lake of Fire).
Nevertheless, in a similar manner also, these thinkers of delusion, on the one hand they pollute the body, and on the other hand they constantly reject duly appointed authority and blaspheme the glory of God. But Michael the archangel, when he was disputing with the devil, he argued concerning the body of Moses, and did not dare to add to or supplement anything reproachful in a sense of judgment, but he simply said, "May the Lord admonish and reprimand you." But these men, on the one hand they habitually and ignorantly malign the things that they do not have a knowledge of, and on the ohter hand, they things that they do know and understand by natural instinct, by means of these things they are brought down to corruption and ruin.
Woe to them, because they departed from the true course and pursued after the lifestyle of Cain, and they gave themselves over to the false opinion and error of Balaam for money, and they were violently put to death in the revolution of Korah. And Enoch, the seventh from Adam, also prophesied concerning these men, saying, "Behold, the Lord will definitely come with an innumerable number of His saints, to execute jugment against all,a nd to convince all the godless concerning all their ungodly actions (mental and overt), which they did in an ungodly manner, and concerning the offensive things they said against Him (Jesus Christ). These apostates are always grumblers and fault finders, constantly living their lives in seeking to gratify their own lust patterns. Their speech communicates ideas which appeals to pride and guilt, flattering individuals for the sake of gaining their own advantage.
But as for you, beloved, remember the doctrines that were taught to you under the authority of the apostles concerning our Lord Jesus Christ. How that they declared to you that were would be mockers and scoffers at the lowest periods of time (in human history) who are constantly living their lives according to the standard of their own ungodly (wicked) lust patterns. These are the ones who are causing divisions, they are natural men, not possessing a human spirit.
But you beloved, keep on building yourselves up by means of holy doctrine, being continually in an attitude of prayer by means of the Holy Spirit. Guard that which belongs to you in the realm of the love of God, waiting with anticipation for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ resulting in eternal life (resulting in special eternal blessings).
And upon some rebuke or reprove them when they continually contend or dispute with you. And others, offer deliverance snatching them out of the fire using fear, constantly detesting their apostasy which is completely contaminated from the source of the sin nature.
