Other people's poems which I happen to like

Here are some other poems I like.

Poems by Kevin Max Smith

Kevin Smith, a singer with the Christian rock group DC Talk, is also a wonderful poet. These are from his book, "At the Foot of Heaven."

At the Foot of Heaven

There are angels round my bed tonight
Some are there for comfort; some are there to fight

Miscellaneous Poems

Tell all the truth, but tell it slant--
Success in circuit lies
Too bright for our infirm delight
The truth's superb surprise
As lightening to the children eased
With explanation kind
The truth must dazzle gradually
Or every man be blind.

--Emily Dickinson

Wantons we are; and though our words be such,
Our lives do differ from our lines by much.

--Robert Herrick

Eternity

He who binds to himself a joy
Does the wingéd life destroy;
But he who kisses the joy as it flies
Lives in eternity's sunrise.

--William Blake

ODE TO COFFEE

Java, noir café, without sugar sweet
When waking up this is my starting spark
The magic brew that gets me on my feet
I crave the sting, the sharp of drink most dark

The swill controls my will, conceives my need
Devour your core, else you consume my soul
Your pleasant tang perfume accents my greed
A sot I am, but you can make me whole

Your misty vapors bait, you bitter bean
With ease your harlot ways they make me shake
Dear Coffee, love, you know my want: caffeine
With this you rouse me though I'm wide-awake

I pick you up by handled cup; I yearn
To quench desire, the stein of fire I turn
Your flame among my fleshy tongue doth burn
And in the end you make my stomach churn

No caffé latte crap for men like me!

ROBERT FROST

There is the fear that we shan't prove worthy in the eyes of someone who knows us at least as well as we know ourselves. That is the fear of God. And there is the fear of Man-fear that men won't understand us and we shall be cut off from them.
-Robert Frost

SPAM KU

A SPAM loaf quivers.
Salivary glands juice up.
Anticipation.
-John Y. N. Cho

There's no place like home.
