Episode Summary:
While Caitlin and Will are riding their horses, Caitlin tries to get
her horse Bandit to jump a fence. Bandit, however, has other ideas. He
refuses to make the jump and throws Caitlin off. She sprains her wrist after
falling to the ground. She says to Bandit, "You really hurt me! Was the
jump too high?" She refuses to ride Bandit even though Will suggests that
she ride Bandit with her good wrist. Caitlin continues to refuse to ride
Bandit even after her wrist has healed. She is afraid, and she thinks that
Bandit is going crazy. Dori tells Caitlin that she needs to forgive Bandit
and get back on. Will eventually convinces Caitlin to ride Bandit and to
attempt the jump again. Bandit successfully completes the jump the second
time.
Episode Highlights:
1. Will confronts Caitlin's fear about getting back on Bandit. He tells
her that Bandit will get increasingly wild if she continues to refuse to
ride him. Eventually Bandit will become so wild that she won't be able to
ride him again. He says, "Look, whatever you're afraid of, it can't be worse
than the fear of loosing him." Caitlin says, "I don't know what I'm afraid
of." Will tells her, "Why don't you go back to the scene of the accident
and find out."
2. Caitlin and Will go back to the scene of the accident. Caitlin says
just before jumping, "I can't." Will responds by simply saying, "You have
to."
3. Caitlin's closing epilogue: "Bandit wasn't really going crazy. It's
just that I trusted him so completely, and then all that trust was gone.
But I know now that trust is deep. When it's earned, it stays. Who knows?
Maybe one day I can even trust Will."
