Brief Story:
Many years ago on the Planet Krypton. Jor-El, a well known scientist, discovered that the planet was going to explode. When he told the elders, they denounced him saying it was a ludicrus theory. So he vowed that he and his wife Lara would not leave. He, however, did not say he would not save his son. On Krypton, the ideals of love and giving birth were considered a taboo in their culture. So children were born out of a Birthing Matrix. Jor-El and Lara were wedded out of love, but they concieved their child in a Matrix. Jor-El already knew they were to have a son. He named him Kal-El. He then took the Matrix and attached it to a stardrive engine. With a push of a button, Kal-El was launched into space on course for Earth. Within minitues after the launch, Krypton exploded.
When the ship made it to Earth, it landed in the middle of farm crops in Smallville, Kansas. Jonathan and Martha Kent witnessed this and watched as the baby Kal-El was "born." Shortly afterwards, they adopted him. He was named Clark (Martha's Maiden Name). Over the years, Clark grew up as a human boy on the farm. In school, he was a football star, track star, etc. He later discovered that as he approched his adolecent years, he was gaining superpowers. This happened because the solar radiation was actually supercharging Clark's genetic structure. All of his scences were increased. However, he tried to live as a human. He went to college and majored in journalism. No matter wjat, he tried to be human. That was soon to change. One day, the Space Plane Constitution was about to crash in the city of Metropolis. As a spectator, Clark saw this and he chose to stop it. He flew up into the sky like a bird and caught the Constitution in mid-fall. That is also where he met Lois Lane. Eventually, she named him "Superman." Clark, however, was the first to land an "interview" with Superman and landed himself a job with The Daily Planet.
Over the last few years, Clark has been able to live this double life. However, as Superman, he had many troubles. Through his career as Superman: he died, came back to life, was put on trial, turned into an energy being, was split into 2 energy beings, returned to to his normal krytonian self, possessed to take over the world, and turned into a one-man JLA. During all that, Clark Kent managed to marry Lois Lane and work a steady job at the Daily Planet.
Recently, after completing the reconstruction of the Fortress of Solitude, Superman asked Steel as his partner.
