Mr. William Ehrler was German born and came to this country after World War I. Through his superior knowledge of breeding and training of dogs, he became a nationally recognized authority and judge of German Shepherds and German Shorthaired Pointers. He judged our 1953 Specialty Show and our 1956 Fall Trial. He served as our Club Vice President in 1945 and Club President in 1947.

William Ehrler, lived near Mt Clemens, Michigan and was one of the earliest owners of the breed in the greater Detroit area. Mr. Ehrler was an apt student of the breed, and an avid hunter and had the natural ability and willingness to impart factual information as translated from German Literature. Bill, as he was affectionately called, was a subscriber to current German hunting magazines and to the stud books issued each year, and he had many books on training and handling of his favorite breeds.

Rheinberg Kennels, was not an extensive operation, but gained prominence in producing Ch. Dixie V. Rheinberg and her sister, Distel V. Rheinberg, bred to the same stud, produced four champions: Dixie and Distel bred to Timm V Altenau produced one champion. These bloodlines have carried down into the present day kennels.
