TARAN SMITH

Taran Noah Smith gained notice for his role of Mark Taylor, the youngest son on ABC's mega-hit sitcom "Home Improvement" starring Tim Allen. From his work on the recently-ended show, Smith has appeared in a number of small television films including The Family Channel's "Ebbie" and "Little Bigfoot 2: The Journey Home." Taran's other television appearances include the Nickelodeon game show "Figure it Out" in 1999, "Seventh Heaven" in 1997, and "Batman Beyond" late last year.

Smith was born April 8, 1984 in San Fransisco, Calfornia, and spent the first four years of his life living on a 41-foot power boat docked in the San Fransisco Bay. For his future, Taran hopes to pursue a directing career. He plans on attending film school at New York University. He currently contributes to a number of causes, among them The Make a Wish Foundation and The Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. In the fall, he will begin attending high school classes full time.

Mark's teacher wants to meet with Tim and Jill; Mark is having problems at school. Tim and Jill try to figure out what is wrong. Jill thinks that the problem could be that she is neglecting Mark because of Tim and her busy schedules, but they both miss the real problem; Mark needs glasses and is afraid of looking stupid. Al bores the studio, Heidi and Tim with the history of linoleum.

The Columbia astronauts make an appearance on Tool Time and take Tim's special screwdriver on a mission. Mark wants to take flying lessons which Jill doesn't approve of. Jill decides to take piano lessons, to the dismay of the rest of the family. Tim and Al ruin Bud's car.

Karate-student Mark successfully intervenes when a bully accosts Randy, who takes a different sorts of beating when the story hits the school paper. The Beach boys visit their cousin Wilson.

156 / 7.05 - A Night to Dismember

Mark and his friend Ronny make a film for a school project, he casts Brad and Randy as successful young men and Tim & Jill as the Cleavers. Later, Tim watches the unfinished video and sees Mark as the third son, Clark, who goes on a killing spree... after which, of course, Jill is worried that Mark wants to kill them, but Mark claims its just a video.

192 / 8.16 - Mark's Big Break

Tim is finally finished with the hot rod and wants to make a big production of it on "Tool Time." He decides to let Mark do a video project to be shown on the show. But when the family sees Mark's tape, it's well as Tim puts it "different." Tim decides to give Mark a second chance though.
