This series is unlike its sister programs. It centralizes around a space station called Deep Space Nine. It was a station controlled by the Cardassians until they gave it up along with the planet Bajor. It is currently run by both the Federation and the Bajorans. It is commanded by Starfleet Capt. Ben Sisko and seconded by Bajoran Colonal Kira Nerys. For seven years, the station has been attacked and taken over. Since the station is by an artificial wormhole that goes to the Gamma Quadrant, DS9 has encounters with all kinds of races. During the 5th season, the station had recieved its own starship, the U.S.S. Defiant. The station has survived war and punishment. At the end, Worf retired his Starfleet comission and became Federation Ambassador to Kronos, Chief O'Brian became a professor of enginerring at Starfleet Academy, and Capt. Sisko returned to be with the Prophets saying he will return one day.
