Released in 1983 and re-released in 1997 as part of the Special Edition. To be very brief, we see the emperor for the first time in the movies. A new Death Star is being built, and the rebellion forces lanch a massive strike against it. Luke confronts Vader in battle and wins. Then the Emperor tries to kill Luke, but Vader kills the Emperor instead. Vader turns back to the good side of the Force and returns to being Anakin. Then he dies. The Rebellion defeats the Empire and the entire galaxy celebrates.
