Cast

This movie takes place almost right where the second movie left off. The Enterprise is on her way back to Earth for refit and Kirk's son David and Saavik transfered over to the science vessel U.S.S. Grissom to go explore the newly formed Genesis Planet. Kirk is still recovering from the loss of his friend Spock. When the Enterprise docks, the fleet commander tells Kirk that Genesis is a forbidden subject and that the Enterprise is to be decommissioned. Meanwhile, a Klingon Bird of Prey commandered by a renegade klingon named Kruge stole records of the Genesis Project and proceeds into Federation Space to investigate the Genesis planet. The Grissom discovers that Spock's photon tube landed on the planet surface. David and Saavik beam down to investigate. After searching all over, they found Spock alive as a child growing up as the planet ages. Back on Earth, Kirk is begging to be allowed to take the Enterprise to find Spock after Spock's father Sarek asks him to do so and he is refused. McCoy is suffereing a breakdown because just before Spock died, he transferred his conscienceness into McCoy. McCoy was having an identity crisis. Back on Genesis, Kruge destroys the Grissom. Saavik and David are abandoned on the planet, but they discover that the planet is unstable and as it nears destuction, Spock continues to age. Back on Earth, after continueous rejected requests, Kirk takes McCoy, with the help of Sulu, Chekov, Scotty, and Uhura, and steals the Enterprise to go save Spock. When the Enterprise arrives at Genesis, Kirk and the Klingons engage in battle. Kirk draws first blood, but Kruge deals a more fatal blow to the Enterprise and disables her. Then, with Kirk listening in, Kruge orders his men to kill one of his three hostages. Them being Saavik, David, and an adolesant Spock. His man chose to kill Saavik, but David interfered and took to blow himself and dies. Kirk discovers that his son is dead and he vows revenge. Kirk says he will surrender, but he really orders the Enterprise to self-destruct. As he beams off the ship to the planet's surface, Klingons beam on and are killed when the Enterprise blows up. Kirk finds the remaining hostages and kills the klingon guards. Kirk then challenges Kruge to beam down. Kruge has Kirk's crew beamed to his ship and Kirk and Kruge fight. Kirk wins and beams on board. He says his goodbyes to his fallen son and he commandered the Bird of Prey over to Planet Vulcan. By this time, Spock is all grown up. They reach Vulcan and the Vulcans' highest priestess returns Spock's conscienceness bake to his body. McCoy is back to normal and Spock is alive and well. This ends this part of the story.
