Brady-Hindman Murder Site
This section of my page contains a photo of the approximate site where Sheriff William Brady and his deputies were when they were ambushed by Regulators hiding in the corral to the east of the Tunstall store. Brady was himself shot around nine times and died where he fell, whereas one of his deputies, George Hindman was shot once and managed to run a few yards before falling to the ground and then being killed off with a second shot.
This is the approximate view the Regulators would have had when they ambushed the sheriff and his men. The Tunstall store is the building to the right and at the time of the assassination, the building on the left did not exist. Rather, a large adobe corral surrounded the entire back and side yards of the store. The Regulators were closer to the street than the photographer was in this photo, but that is the only significant difference.
