Brushy Bill Roberts with his fourth wife, Melinda Allison Roberts
This photo of Brushy Bill and his fourth wife, Melinda Roberts, called Lizzie by Brushy and other friends, was taken in the 1940s when Brushy was either in his sixties or eighties. Melinda and Brushy were married in November of 1944. It wasn't until after Brushy's failed meeting with Gov. Thomas Mabry that he told Melinda of his claim to being Billy the Kid. Melinda died in 1952.
