Site of the McSween house

This section of my site contains a couple photos of the site of the McSween house, which was burned to the ground on July 19, 1878, the final day of the Five-Day Battle. Nothing was ever rebuilt on the property and it has been severely eroded away over the years, due to flooding of the Rio Bonito, located only a few hundred yards behind the house's original site.

This photo gives a general view of the property on which the McSween house once stood. Even from this angle, the erosion of the property is easy to see. The building visible to the right is the neighboring Tunstall store.

This photo was taken from the approximate middle of the site, looking south to the road. This photo makes the erosion very clear, seeing as how it looks as though you're looking uphill.
