Victims of Billy the Kid, the Regulators, and the Rustlers, Billy's second gang
This is a list of all the men that have been killed by Billy the Kid, the Regulators, and/or Billy's second gang, the Rustlers. If you have any questions or comments on this, please feel free to e-mail me.
The Victims
- Francis P. 'Windy' Cahill, a bully and blacksmith at Fort Grant, Arizona. Was shot in the gut and killed by Billy the Kid on Aug. 17, 1877.
- William McCloskey, a Regulator who was possibly a Murphy-Dolan-Riley partisan. Shot in the head and killed by a Regulator, possibly Frank MacNab, on Mar. 9, 1878 when McCloskey said he would have to be killed before Morton or Baker were harmed.
- William Scott 'Buck' Morton, a House employee who was also a member of the Jessie Evans Gang and also led the sub-posse that killed John Tunstall. Killed by the Regulators on Mar. 9, 1878 when Morton fled after MacNab killed McCloskey.
- Frank Baker, a member of the Jessie Evans Gang who was also in the sub-posse that killed John Tunstall. Killed by the Regulators on Mar. 9, 1878 when Baker fled after MacNab killed McCloskey.
- Sheriff William Brady, the sheriff of Lincoln County who was also a Murphy-Dolan-Riley thug and he also deputized most of the other Murphy-Dolan-Riley henchmen. Actual killer unknown, shot eight or nine times and killed by Billy the Kid, Fred Waite, Frank MacNab, Henry Brown, Big Jim French, and John Middleton on Apr. 1, 1878.
- Deputy George Hindman, was in the sub-posse that killed John Tunstall. First shot in the neck by Frank MacNab, but then shot again and killed by Fred Waite on Apr. 1, 1878.
- Andrew L. 'Buckshot' Roberts (AKA: Bill Williams, Jesse Andrews), a member of the sub-posse that killed John Tunstall. Shot in the lower gut by Charlie Bowdre on April 4, 1878 and died of the wound the following day.
- Charles Marshall, a member of the Seven Rivers Warriors and the sub-posse that killed John Tunstall. Possibly shot and killed by the Regulators (exact killer(s) unknown) on Apr. 30, 1878.
- Tom Green, a member of the Seven Rivers Warriors who was also in the sub-posse that killed John Tunstall. Possibly shot and killed by the Regulators (exact killer(s) unknown) on Apr. 30, 1878.
- Jim Patterson, a member of the Seven Rivers Warriors. Possibly shot and killed by the Regulators (exact killer(s) unknown) on Apr. 30, 1878.
- John Galvin, a member of the Seven Rivers Warriors. Possibly shot and killed by the Regulators (exact killer(s) unknown) on Apr. 30, 1878.
- Manuel 'Indian' Segovia, a member of the Jessie Evans Gang who also was in the sub-posse that killed John Tunstall. Actual killer unknown; possibly killed by Frank Coe, Billy the Kid, or Jose Chavez y Chavez.
- Charlie 'Lollycooler' Crawford, a member of the Seven Rivers Warriors. Shot in the torso by Regulator Fernando Herrera and killed on July 16, 1878.
- Robert W. 'Bob' Beckwith, a member of the Seven Rivers Warriors who was also in the sub-posse that killed John Tunstall. Shot in the right wrist and right eye and killed by a Regulator on July 19, 1878.
- Morris J. Bernstein, Mescelaro Apache Reservation Agency clerk. Shot four times and killed by Regulator Atanacio Martinez on Aug. 5, 1878.
- Joe 'Texas Red' Grant, a bounty hunter and wannabe gunfighter. Shot three times in the head and killed by Billy the Kid on Jan. 10, 1880.
- Deputy James Carlyle, member of the posse that tried to capture Billy the Kid, Dirty Dave Rudabaugh, and Billy Wilson. Shot three times and killed on Nov. 27, 1880 , possibly by Billy the Kid, Dirty Dave and Wilson, possibly by his own posse.
- Deputy James William Bell, a deputy to Sheriff Pat Garrett and one of Billy the Kid's guards. Shot in the torso and killed by Billy the Kid on Apr. 28, 1881.
- Deputy Ameredith Robert B. 'Pecos Bob' Olinger, a bully and deputy to Sheriff Pat Garrett. Shot in the shoulder, chest, and face with his own shotgun by Billy the Kid and killed on Apr. 28, 1881.
