I've been beaten and have had many a sleepless night with this publication. Since our good friend Joe "Mountain" Dewey has left COD it's taken everything I have to keep the spirit of COD alive. Technology has gotten the best of me and I'm afraid that disaster has happened. I let the "man" get me down and it looks as tho hard copies of COD will be extinct and will only survive as an internet zine (which is actually good news for all you cheapsk8s that can't spend 8 quarters for killer interviews, and humor). It's hard to say exactly what is going to happen with COD but it's been in a bit of a hiatus for a bit now anyway. Between personal problems and the fact that I've had to finally face the stark reality that there really is no Santa Claus (gosh....that's the first time I've said it out loud and I got chills). Some of the interviews that I'll be doing (or have already done) will most likely find it's way in a bigger zine called ETCH out of Lansing, Michigan. Etch does not cover the horror genre nor strictly the punk scene (but more like the whole independent music scene which of course includes tons of good ole' punk rock) but hopefully my beautiful presence will help change some of the traditional ways of these old-timers (they're really good guys tho....really)at Etch may have....we'll just have to wait and see. So for those of you that look forward to each hard copy issue of COD, I am sincerely sorry....lack of funds, personal issues, & whatever else has brought me to this sad yet exciting new world overdose. And for those of you who have paid for a copy of COD and have yet to get it I'll make sure that you get atleast one nice crisp copy of Etch.
The video comp will still be coming out and if you plan on sending anything in at all you'd better hurry (don't forget, the infamous Jeff Gaither will be doing the artwork for us on that one so it's gonna be exciting as well).
For all bands, labels, and zines that usually send me their stuff for review continue to do so because I've been handling the zine reviews and some of the music reviews at ETCH already for the past year not to mention your review will find it's way on the new and improved COD site as well. So continue to send your stuff my way and lucky you will most likely find it in two zines.
The interviews that are done for the next issue: Fu Manchu, Electric Frankenstein, B-movie actor Michael Berryman, Troma President Lloyd Kaufman, Grade and Snapcase will find it's way within the pages of ETCH soon. So look for that coming your way. Write me for more information on how to get your own copy of Etch magazine.
