Mares Serenitatis, A Queen's Story
by Faerie

Part 1
***********************************************************************

I was born when the glow of a dying star, several times the size of
the Sun, reached the Moon. At that time, there was an eclipse of which
the Moon Kingdom lay in the shadow created by the Sun. But the glow of
that star made the Moon, too glow with an unearthly light.

I was born, following the completion of an age-old traditional ritual
of Serenity, the Moon Goddess. My mother too was known as Queen Serenity
. To be more accurate....I was actually her double, something that the
humans would describe as a 'clone'. Each era of Serenity that ruled
the Moon were the same as I. We all had the pale silvery hair and the
crescent symbol that was so distinct on our foreheads. Our thoughts and
our fears were the same.

A Moon Princess is the future Queen, who is to replace the present
Queen when she tires and finally vanishes. In other words, the Princess
is merely an extension of the Queen to survive. I was no different.

Like my mother, and her mother before her, I was the guardian and
holder of the Imperium Crystal, a crystal that contains one of the few
strongest power in the universe. Since I grew in the few turns of the
Earth, which is calculated to be nearly a month, I was ready when I
claimed the Imperium Crystal . My mother transferred her knowledge to
me before she 'vanished'. I became Queen Serenity, the seemingly immortal
monarch of the Silver Millenium. No one knew of this secret, all except
two...the wise and ageless sprite guardian of the Cauldron of Starseeds
and the loyal feline retainers of each Queen.

I ruled my people well...they respected me and feared me for my
apparent immortality and the Imperium Crystal. To them, I was their
Queen and Goddess, and my word was law.

When I became the ruler of Mare Serenitatis, the Earth had already
begun its civillisation.

A noble by the name of Andres one day approached me. He was a tall
and handsome man with flaxen hair that glinted like gold whenever it
caught the light. He suggested that I make friendly overtures to the
Earthlings' in order to learn more about them. Though usually a silent
and reserve man, Andres' blue eyes began twinkling with excitement
when he told me this.

My people were a peaceful community...with a few doses of curiosity
, and so was I. It was curiosity that made me approach the Earthlings.
Andres became my true advisor and friend during this time. His honest
nature and practical mind made him a welcome guest to Earthlings. As
time passed, I grew to rely on Andre's opinions.

The years rolled by in apparent peacefulness. It was only until
Lunar, my feline advisor, reminded me, did I noticed how the years had
weighted on Andres. His hair know had tinges of grey and white, though
his face remained youthful due to the longevity of the Moon people. But
his eyes bespoke of weariness and a certain hidden longing which I had
never tried to fathom. This discovery troubled me, for my life was far
more longer than Andres and I never could imagine a time without him
near my side.

It was only until the Earth King presented us with a gift that
things began to change. That gift was a bottle of liquid, made from
fermented grapes, which had been described as being able to 'lift the
spirit up' by the humans. Lunar, Andres and I drank some of it after
the meeting. Lunar immediately felt ill and retired back to her room.
However, both Andres and I agreed the drink was pleasant and warm....

We kept on drinking until the last drop. Indeed, my senses were
heightened and slightly reeling, but yet I felt..good...But when I tried
to walk, I stumbled and fell backwards, straight into Andres' arms.

Obligingly, he clumsily tried to help me back to my room. But he
too was woozy from the drink and was actually in a worse shape than I
was. I remembered laughing at his poor coordinations when we reached my
room.

It was only until we both collided with the bedpost that we realized
where we were. Andres had his arms round my waist and I had mine round
his neck at that time. Surprisingly, we both did not let go. We remain
locked in that position, staring into each other's eyes.

I admit, it was I who started it. Without thinking, I pulled his head
down and kissed him. It was a long enjoyable kiss........and so was what
followed next when we landed onto my bed...............

A love story? Well..maybe...
It'll be all about Queen Serenity and her whole life......
Maybe it'll be quite short...about 3 or 4 parts only....but I'll
try my best to write it^_^..hehe....
