Husted Hoedown (Husted Family National Assoc. Reunion)
So mark your calendars the 18th annual Husted Family Hoedown is coming The 4th weekend in July,Friday the 26, Saturday 27, and Sunday 28th, 2013.
Directions :
Take US 127 to the north side of Harrison, Mi. to the old 27 exit turn right and proceed about 1 block north to Arnold lake Rd., turn right (east) and go 3 miles to the Meredith Grade, turn left (north} 1/2 mile, then the Rd will go to the north east 1/4 mile more you will see a sign on the left side of the road saying "Husted homestead 1902" turn left (north) into the driveway and proceed back to Dunham lake. (Take the left for all paths back to the lake.
Who is Invited:
You are Invited if you are a Husted or Bailey or a descendent of one of these families. We also will allow you to bring your friends For 3 days of fun.
Free Camping:
There will be free camping, so bring your campers, tents or you can stay in the hotels near by . Come for one day or 3 but come.
Fishing contest will start Friday:
A trophy will be given to the one how catches the largest fish. The contest starts Friday and ends Sunday at 12:00. There is row boats and paddle boats to use on the Lake. (life jackets a must)
Darts, Horse Shoes , and Bean bag:
These games will start on Friday and end on Saturday night. You must sign up to be in the competition.
Karaoke and hotdog roast at the Friday night bonfire
Friday night we will have a hotdog roast at the bonfire next to the lake must bring your own hotdogs. Come sing and dance with us. We will have Karaoke Friday night at the Hotdog Roast. We have over 200 songs. For those wishing to sing , we will have it set up Friday night at the bonfire. We will be using CDs and CDGs and can change the key to fit your voice.
Clown show 10:00 AM Saturday:
Magic, Bingo and games for the young and older generation alike . One of the games will be , know your family. All the questions can be found in the Husted Family National Assoc. web sites .(Gifts to be given to the winners.)
Lunch at 12:00 Saturday:
Open at this time.
We will be having spaghetti at the Reunion
Auction (ABT) 1 PM Saturday:
There will be a auction to raise money to help fund the Hoedown. If you can bring something to be sold at the auction. This is one of the ways we raise money for the Hoedown. There will be tee shirts and cups this year.
Concert and talent contest 3:00 Pm Saturday:
David Dickerson
David Dickerson gave his life to the Lord in 1972. Since then David has served the Lord in church as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Song Leader, and Youth Director. David has written nearly three hundred songs, four of them are award winning , recorded six albums, And is currently working on his 7th album., which is all Christmas Songs. He was inducted into the Michigan Country Music Hall of Fame in July 2002 in Country Gospel Category
David has performed in several States of the Union, and all across Michigan. He has had the opportunity to work with Nashville Recording Artist such as : Billy Walker, Jack Green, Connie Smith, Hank Thompson and Leroy Van Dyke.
Dave loves writing songs about the Lord, home life, and Country. He was born and raised in Hammond Louisiana, so the country flavor in his gospel songs comes naturally. Other artists are now recording his music. David shares his experience and knowledge of song writing with his audience. At every one of his concerts he takes the time for questions and answers. He has helped a lot of people get started in the very competitive arena of song writing . His songs are geared for any and all age groups, and he always adds a touch of humor in his concerts. Dave performs on a free-will offering, and would welcome the opportunity to come and perform at your church, family reunion, senior citizen group, or any occasion.
Hog Roast 5:00 Pm Saturday :
There will be can for free will offering to help pay for the cost of the dishes, silver ware, drinks and food.
10:00 Am Church on the Lake Sunday:
Russell Husted will be doing all the services Sunday at the Husted reunion this year.
Russell has taken all the suggestions that have come forth from his last preaching experience at the campground into consideration and modified his sermon accordingly. LeRoy has suggested that the sermons are too long. He feels 5 minutes would be better and leave the rest for singing or better still have the singing and preaching at the same time. Pearl thought it was too short and should be extended for at least another hour. Carl thought it was too deep for the people to understand and we should have more jokes. Velma thought we should go even deeper and express the inter-feeling and Spirit of the Word. She has suggested that the book of ?Revelation? might provoke more thought. Michael has suggested that we should have some comic relief intermittently spaced within the sermon. He though the book of George would be better for current study. You know George of the jungle.
Auction :
Auction to get ride of some of the food left over and any things not sold the day before.
Sunday Potluck lunch at 1:00 PM
Bring a dish to pass, The silver ware, cups, Plates , Meat and drinks will be furnished.
Meeting:
To give out the winners there trophies, Have the drawing for the Hog. And discuss when or if there is to be a next NATIONAL gathering and when.
Concert:
You will be able to buy CD’s from David Dickerson at this time or give him a free will donation. Or book him for your special occasion.
