Second photo on this page courtesy Armand De Gregoris.

Jesse and Frank James and Fletch Taylor

This photo was taken in June of 1867. It was taken at Nashville, Tenessee. The man on the right is Jesse (note the concealed left hand), the man in the middle is his older brother Frank James, and the man on the left is Charles F. "Fletch" Taylor, a guerrilla who rode with the Jameses during the Civil War.

Jesse James and family

The man third from left in the back row is Jesse. The lady to his left is Zee Mimms, his cousin and future wife. The man first on the left in the back row may be John Newman Edwards, Jesse's friend and the newspaper man that always wrote articles on the James-Younger Gang. The man between Edwards and Jesse is Frank James. The man in the second row is Jesse and Frank's step-father, Reuben Samuel. The older lady in the second row is Jesse and Frank's mother, Zerelda Samuel. The little boy is Jesse and Frank's little half-brother, John Samuel. One of the girls is Jesse and Frank's sister, Susan James. The other girls are probably Jesse and Frank's younger half-sisters or cousins.

Jesse James, age 18 or 19

This photo of Jesse was taken in 1866 in Nashville, Tennessee. Jesse would have been eighteen or nineteen years of age at this time.
