This is a V8 336 cubic inch engine with a 2 barrel carburetor. As you can see it was in pretty sad shape. I decided to replace the water pump but almost everything else was rebuilt and reused.
I took this engine down to bare block, it was already at .030 over and the machine shop honed it to .040 over. The crankshaft was turned 10/10. All new pistons, stainless steel valves, valve seats, cam, rocker arms, etc. Original fuel pump (rebuilt), original carb (rebuilt), in fact virtually everything on the exterior is original. I did have plug wires made by Magnecor. They are local and do a lot of racing wires worldwide. I also installed a Pertronix ignition and Flamethrower coil. I am still not sure about the color of the engine. Parts of it was Pontiac blue and of course it was made by Pontiac for GMC. I did check with AACA in Harrisburg, PA and their research said that it should be GMC orange, so if I am ever questioned I guess I can show them my letter, or if someone can show me for sure what color it should be I will take it back down to the block and repaint it. UGH!!
