George Washington

George Washington was one of the greatest entrepreneurs that ever lived. For nearly twenty years he guided his country as a major, as a lieutenant colonel, as a colonel, as the first president of the United States, and finally as a writer. George Washington changed the United States forever with his wisdom and bravery.

Born on February 22, 1732, George Washington started his life in Westmoreland County, Virginia. He probably had no more than seven or eight years of schooling. It is a fact that George exceeded in arithmetic, but was not as skilled in language arts and geography. His father would have sent him to a private school if he would have had the chance, but unfortunately he died when George was only eleven.

In 1749, when George was seventeen, he became the official surveyor for Culpeper County, Virginia. Four years later, in 1753, he carried British Ultimatum to the French in Ohio River Valley. By this time George Washington was already a respected major.

As a colonel, only a year later, George Washington was forced to surrender Fort Necessity in the French and Indian War. Only a year later, when he was under the command of a General Edward Braddock, the French and the Indians defeated George.

Between the years 1755 and 1758, George Washington would be found commanding Virginia's frontier troops as a colonel. On January 6, 1759 he was married to Ms. Martha Dandridge Curtis, a widow with two children. This marriage lasted Washington his whole life, and soon was considered to be the father of Martha's children.

For fifteen years George settled down and enjoyed life. That is until he was elected delegate of the first and second continental congress two years in a row. On June 15, 1775 he was elected commander in chief of the Continental Army. This was a very smart move because six years later on October 19, 1781, there was a great victory in Yorkton.

Maybe the most famous thing George Washington ever accomplished was to become the first president of the United States. In 1789 he became President George Washington at the age of fifty-seven. He served two terms two terms with vice president John Adams before refusing a third term and handing his residency to John Adams.

On September 19, 1796 George Washington, now 65 years old, wrote a book called "Farewell Address". On December 14, 1799, George Washington died at Mount Vernon, 67 years old.

George Washington was a great entrepreneur of his time. He accomplished all he could ever to, and enjoyed a happy, long life with his wife and two stepchildren. George Washington will be remembered always.
