Edmund N. Gundrum

Edmund N. Gundrum, age 89, of Nenno passed away on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003 at the Waupun Christian Home.
He was born on the family homestead farm in Nenno on Nov. 14, 1914 to the late Paul and Elizabeth (nee Becker) Gundrum. Edmund worked on the family farm until the U.S. Army called for his help during WWII, and he spent 3 1/2 years in the pacific theater. On Aug. 17, 1946, he was united in marriage to Delores Biersack at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Parish in Barton. Together they continued working on the farm until retiring in 1975. Delores preceded him in death in 1999.
Edmund was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church in Allenton, and the Fohl-Martin American Legion Post #483 in Allenton. He enjoyed fishing and card playing, especially Sheepshead and Scott.

He is survived by four children, Eugene (Muriel) Gundrum of Huilsburg, Joanne (Russell) Netland of Nenno, Leo (Sherri) Gundrum of Nenno and Kathy (Dave) Steltz of Slinger; 11 grandchildren, Leon Steltz, Jason (Tarra) Gundrum, Nicole Steltz, Nathan Gundrum, Tammy Gundrum, Kim Steltz, Lance Netland, Kelly Gundrum, Natalie Gundrum, Christopher Steltz and Shannon Netland; a great-granddaughter, Jazmyn Gundrum; one sister, Mildred (Paul) Leichtle of Theresa; a sister-in-law, Mary Gundrum of Hartford; two brothers-in-law, Robert (Charlotte) Biersack and John Biersack, both of West Bend; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by five sisters, Hildegard Bodden, Isabelle Schaefer, Irene Kienast, Margaret Jacklin and Marie Schweder; and two brothers, Wilfred and Roman.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 6 p.m. at Resurrection Catholic Church, Allenton. Fr. Richard Breitbach and Fr. Thomas Biersack concelebrated. Visitation was on Wednesday at the church from 3 p.m. until the time of Mass.
Burial will take place on Thursday at 10 a.m. at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Nenno.
Myrhum-Patten Funeral & Cremation Service is assisting the family.

Roman F. Gundrum

Roman F. Gundrum, 84, of Hartford, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2000, at Hartford Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 9, 1916, in Nenno, to the late Paul and Elizabeth (nee Becker) Gundrum, and married Mary Trapp on July 4, 1953, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.
Roman lived in Nenno most of his early years, and worked on the family farm until 1945. He worked at Chrysler in Hartford for 34 years, retiring in 1979.
Roman was an avid bowler and loved gardening and working outdoors. He was a very social neighbor and friend to all.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Rick (Lois) Gundrum of Slinger; two step-grandchildren, Toby (Amy) Brandenstein of Mapleton and Mindy (Pat) Mayo of De Pere; two step-great-grandchildren, Hannah and Ian; a brother, Edmund Gundrum of Nenno; a sister, Mildred (Paul) Leichtle of Theresa; two sisters-in-law, Luella Trapp of Beaver Dam and Katrina Trapp of Englewood, Colo.; a brother-in-law, Harry Schweder of Hartford; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were a brother and his wife, Wilfred (Gertrude) and five sisters and their spouses, Hildagard (Richard) Bodden, Isabelle (Oscar) Schaefer, Margaret (Ben) Jacklin, Irene (Al) Kienast and Marie Schweder.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 19, at 7 p.m. at St. Kilian Catholic Church, Hartford, with interment in St. Kilian Cemetery, Hartford.
The family will greet relatives and friends Tuesday at the church only from 4 to 7 p.m.
Memorials to St. Kilian Church or the charity of the donor's choice are appreciated.

Stephen W. Ames

Stephen W. Ames, 76, of West Bend, died on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004 at the Subacute Unit of the Samaritan Health Center.
He was born on Feb. 20, 1928 in Danville, Ill. to the late Thomas and Lyda (nee Prosser) Ames.
Shortly after graduation from Danville High School in January, 1946, Steve entered the U.S. Army, serving with the Occupational Forces following World War II.
After his discharge, he settled in West Bend and married LaVerne Gundrum on Nov. 24, 1951 at Holy Angels Catholic Church.
He was employed as a mechanic for his brother-in-law at Seefeld Motors for a short time.
In 1958 he started working for the city of West Bend as a vehicle mechanic until retiring in 1990.
As a hobby, Steve built and repaired musical string instruments.
He was a member of the Teamsters Union and was a charter member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church where he served on the parish council.
Survivors include his wife; five children, Julie (Gary) Halom of Superior, Russell (Stacy) of Beverly, Mass., Roy (Mary) of Broken Arrow, Okla., Janice (Brad) Lamers of Brookfield and Ellen (Dan) Hintz of Sussex; 10 grandchildren; a sister, Darlene (Tony) DaCosta of Acton, Mass., seven brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ruth Nennig, Walter (Helen) Gundrum, Paul (Carole) Gundrum, Mercia Gundrum, Norbert Hartmann, all of West Bend, Arlene Gundrum of New-hall, Calif. and Bruce McCray of Houston; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were three sisters and a brother.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Oct. 21 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church.
Father Jeffrey Haines will be the presider, and burial will follow in Holy Angels Cemetery.
Visitation at the church only will be Thursday from 10 until 11:15 a.m.
Those who wish may give memorials to "Blessed and Called" building fund at St. Frances Cabrini.
The Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, is serving the family.

Lois A. Gundrum, nee Younker, of West Bend, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital, at the age of 79.
She was born June 11, 1920, in West Bend, to the late Carl and Barbara (nee Riesch) Younker.
After her marriage to Harvey J. Gundrum on Oct. 5, 1946, at Holy Angels Church, the couple settled in West Bend.
Lois was employed in the food service department for West Bend Jt. School District #1 as a food server at the high schools.
She and her family summered at Long Lake (Chinatown) for many years where she enjoyed fishing.
Her husband passed away on Feb. 3, 1996.
Survivors include six children, Michael (Sue), Mark (Mary), Jody (Jolene), Lee (Donna), Ann (Randy) Habram, all of West Bend, and Barbara (Jim ) Andrews of Adell; 22 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were a son, James in 1974; a sister, Betty Younker; and a brother, Carl Younker.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 13, at 9:30 a.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Angels Church. Father Gerald Brittain will be the presider, and burial will follow in Holy Angels Cemetery.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. until the 8 p.m. prayer vigil, and also Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of services.

Norbert P. Hartmann, 84, of Nenno, died on Friday, Feb. 18, 2005 at his residence.
He was born Feb. 23, 1920 in Nenno to the late Emil and Catherine (nee Schellinger) Hartmann and married Esther G. Gundrum n Nov. 23, 1946 at St. Anthony Church
Esther passed away on Feb. 7, 1987.
Norbert was a lifelong resident of the Nenno area, being born and raised on the family farm.
He was employed at The West Bend Co. as a foreman, working from 1944 until his retirement in 1981.
He enjoyed gardening, maintaining his yard and working with tools.
Norbert loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, and his lifelong special interest was riding his Harley.
He was a member of the 25-Year Club at The West Bend Co.
Survivors include two children, Jerry (Marsha) of Tomah and Joan (David) Loeffelholz of Waunakee; five grandchildren, Brian (Kelly) Loeffelholz of Baraboo, Beth (Nels) Midthun of Columbus, Brenda (fiance) Nick Juleen) Loeffelholz and Allisa Hartmann, both of Madison, and Rebecca (fiance James Sawyer) Hartmann of Platteville; two brothers, Roman of Kewaskum and Edmund (Anita) of West Bend; a sister, Priscilla (Cyril) Westerman of West Bend; a brother-in-law, Joseph Mueller of Campbellsport; a very special friend, Helen Ost of Oakfield; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Walter C. Gundrum

Walter C. Gundrum, 78, of West Bend, died peacefully at home on Friday, March 11, 2005.
He was born July 15, 1926 in Allenton to the late Paul and Anna (nee Marian) Gundrum.
Shortly after graduating from West Bend High School in 1944, he entered the U.S. Army and during World War II served in the European Theater.
Following the war, he continued to serve in the occupational forces in Germany, and it was in Heidelburg, Germany that he married Helen M. Bly on June 21, 1947.
Following his discharge, the couple settled in West Bend.
He was employed at Weasler Engineering for about six years. He then worked as a machinist at the former A.O. Smith in Milwau-kee, retiring in 1992 after 36 years of employment.
In addition to family, Walter enjoyed spending time gardening.
Survivors include his wife; eight children, Clinton of West Bend, Judith (Mike) Monday of San Diego, Edward (Donna) of Grand Rapids, Mich., Diane (Terry) Kannass of West Bend, Walter (LeeAnn) of Pewaukee, Peter of Milwaukee, Garry of Rio and Linda (Stewart) Felix of West Bend; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Nennig and LaVerne Ames, both of West Bend; a brother, Paul R. (Carol) of West Bend; a brother-in-law, Bruce McCray 0f Brazoria, Texas; four sisters-in-law, Mercia Gundrum of West Bend, Arlene Gundrum of Burbank, Calif., Patty (Nick) Young of Mason-town, Pa. and Nancy (Art) Trilli of Bellevernon, Pa.; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were a daughter-in-law, Mary Gundrum; three brothers, Wilbur, Harvey and Robert; two sisters, Esther Hartmann and Mary Ann Mc-Cray, and three brothers-in-law, Rudolph Nennig, Steve Ames and Norbert Hartmann.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, March 16 at 7 p.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church.

Mary A. Gundrum

Mary A. Gundrum, (nee Jansen) of West Bend found peace on April 26, 2004 at the age of 55, after a courageous, nine-month battle with cancer.
She was the devoted wife of Clinton; proud mother of Wendy; dear sister of Thomas Jansen; beloved sister-in-law of Ruth Jansen, Betty Backhaus and Ralph Wenzlaff; and special daughter-in-law of Walter (Helen) Gundrum.
She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, colleagues, and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Lawrence (Rose) Jansen; a brother, Richard Jansen; a sister, Rita Wenzlaff; and her God-daughter Sheri Lynn Jansen.
Mary was born in West Bend on Jan. 21, 1949, and her early years were spent on the family farm in the town of Barton.
The family moved to Nabob where Mary attended St. Mathias Grade School and Slinger High School. Upon graduation Mary attended City College of Cosmetology.
She married Clinton Gundrum on Sept. 19, 1970, and the couple enjoyed 33-1/2 wonderful years together.
On December 23, 1972 they were blessed with a lovely daughter, Wendy.
Mary owned and operated Mary Ann’s Beauty Salon for over 20 years where she spent many hours fussing over and gossiping with the many clients that she befriended over the years.
Mary was also an avid downhill skier and golfer.
She loved the Rockey Mountains where she, her husband, daughter and friends annually schussed the slopes of Jackson Hole, Wyo. and many other slopes in the west.
Mary was a member of the West Bend Country Club for more than 30 years and gave back to the game she loved by assisting with the annual "Evans Scholar Classic" charity golf event and caddie program.
She loved all the young caddies who came through the program and helped many of them get started in life by becoming a "Lifetime" member of the Evans Scholars Foundation "Par Club."
In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting baby afghans for new arrivals in the family which were cherished for years by the recipients.
In her final months her laptop was her constant companion where she would spend hours playing solitarie, becoming a real pro.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 2 at 3 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel of West Bend.
Father Charlie Westor will officiate, with cremation at Paradise Cremation Services of West Bend.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from noon until the time of services.
Memorials are appreciated to the "Evans Scholars Foundation" (1 Briar Road, Golf, Ill. 60029), and The Threshold.
The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of Heartland Hospice, especially Kara, Stephanie, Eileen, Nancy and Jenny for the special care they provided Mary with in the final weeks of her struggle.
We also would like to thank Dr. Brenda Pierce and the staff of The Oncology Alliance, along with the volunteers from Kettle Moraine Support Services.
