• 1880 census in Mount Vernon, Kennebec Co., Maine: Sarah C. Leighton, age 34, lived with her husband Timothy Leighton, age 41, their sons Bertran E. Leighton, age 11 and Fred M. Leighton, age 5, her mother-in-law Nancy Leighton, age 66, and her husband's nephew Charles W. Stevens, age 14. All were born in Maine, as was Sarah's father; her mother was born in England. Sarah's brother, Frederick Darwin Huntoon, married Martha Leighton who had previously been married to someone named Stevens. This fact and the presence of nephew Charles Stevens suggests that Timothy was Martha's brother.

2.  TIMOTHY2 LEIGHTON (LEIGHTON1)1 was born 1839 in Maine1,2, and died Aft. 18803,4.  He married SARAH CAROLINE HUNTOON5,6, daughter of ERASMUS HUNTOON and CATHERINE HEPWORTH.  She was born 19 Apr 1846 in Hallowell, Kennebec County, Maine7,8, and died Aft. 18809,10.

3.  MARTHA A.2 LEIGHTON (LEIGHTON1)19 was born 16 Aug 1841 in Maine19, and died Aft. 188019.  She married (1) STEVENS20 Bef. 186420.    She married (2) FREDERIC DARWIN HUNTOON21 12 Mar 187621, son of ERASMUS HUNTOON and CATHERINE HEPWORTH.  He was born 19 Sep 1849 in Hallowell, Kennebec County, Maine21,22,23, and died Aft. 188024,25.

• 1880 census in Readfield, Kennebec Co., Maine: Fred D. Hunton, a "photographer," age 30, lived with his wife Martha A. Hunton, age 39, and Martha's children by her previous husband: Martha A. Stevens, age 16, Charles W. Stevens, age 14 and Lucy B. Stevens, age 12. Everyone was born in Maine. Frederic's mother was born in England.
