Post #14 - Joseph Shippy of New York State homesteaded on the Muskegon River in Newaygo Co, Michigan sometime between 1833 and 1857. The Shippys owned and operated a lumber mill there which produced shakes (roofing material). Samantha was the eldest of 14 children of Joseph Shippy, and is buried in Kalkaska Co, Michigan. She had many brothers.
