Christopher Wadsworth is common ancestor of Maine and Massachusetts Wadsworth families. Christopher's brother William is common ancestor of Wadsworth families in Connecticut and New York. The two brothers came to America on the ship "Lion" in 1632. Christopher was the first constable of Duxbury, Plymouth County, Massachusetts. He was considered an honest, faithful man, was also a deputy selectman and surveyor. These offices required him to serve as jailor, execute punishments and penalities., give warnings of marriages, act as judge of weights, and measures, survey lands and take oaths of loyality to the King. His "will" was dated 31 July 1677 and mentioned 4 children, 3 boys and 1 girl.
