Came from Essex in the "Lion" sailing 22 June 1632.  Settled at Newtown/Cambridge in 1632.  Later removed with Hooker to Hartford where he was a large landowner.  An ardent friend of Hooker, he was one of the "withdrawers" to  Hadley  in 1659.  In 1670 he removed to Farmington.  Was ruling Elder at Hartford and Hadley.  Also an executor of Gov. Hopkin's will and thus one of the founders of Hopkins School.    At his death, his large estate came to son-in-law, John Crow.
