The name KAGI supposedly comes from the from the first two letters of these two people's names.  The story is said that the two were separating and the mother didn't want the son to have the last name of his father.  SO in the Solomon like wisdom of the judge, he created a name from the first two letters of the father's and mother's family names

John was 22 Years of age when his parents moved from Virginia to Fairfield Co, Ohio. He went with his parents westward in a four horse wagon. The settled in the area now known as Walnut Township, Fairfield County John married in 1820 and moved to Seneca County He and Catharine moved to Seneca Co in 1827.  Where he moved was primitive forest.  He and his family lived out of the wagon until a structure could be erected. They lived less than a mile south of a Mohawk Indian Village. THey lived on Honey Creek, erected a sawmill and taught
