RPG Guidelines

Hello, it’s me again! I’d really appreciate it if you had some knowledge of the RPG rules before you began playing, so just set y’self down and read through this information! I promise it won’t take too much time, and it’s better to read it now than have me yelling at you later (you do not want me to yell at you, it will not be pretty). Make sure you’ve read all the rules before posting! Thanks!

1. Rating. This is rather important on any sort of board. I don’t want any sort of questionable material being posted. This RPG board is rated PG, and I expect anything that needs to be rated to come from violence and battles between Jellicles and strays (even so, don’t overdo it), and not from pornography. If you use any sort of pornography, you will be kicked off the board. It’s not an idle threat, so live with it.

2. Format. When posting messages, they can either be in the third person (as in, Minnaloushe ate moldy cheese), or in script format (as in Minnaloushe: *eats moldy cheese*). It’s not really important, so don’t feel you’re obliged to post either way. I would appreciate it if you made some effort to proofread your posts.

3. Power-playing. Controlling other people’s characters…saying either ‘yes’ or ‘no’ leaves a lot open for debate. For instance, have you noticed how on RPGs that are ‘real strict’ about not controlling someone else’s character, Macavity is allowed to rush in and kidnap whoever he pleases, without giving the victim some say in the matter? That’s technically power-playing, saying that they got kidnapped. I’d prefer if you not control someone else’s character, but you may under certain circumstances. For instance, if your character is jumping around insanely, you’re allowed to say someone else moved out of the way. Small things like that aren’t too important. Or, if someone’s unable to visit the board, they may appoint someone to play their character for them. Even Macavity should give the victim some say in whether they’re kidnapped or not—but the victim shouldn’t always escape. Finally, if you are controlling someone’s character, don’t make control them in ways that would maim them, kill them, cause them to go insane, make them eat moldy cheese, etc. Do that all you like with your own character.

Thanks for sticking around and reading all that! You can go to the board now.
