Bombalurina
Personality:
Bombalurina is one of the more flirtatious cats, probably a female version of the Rum Tum Tugger, who appears to be the cat she likes to flirt with most. Eventually, she’ll probably settle down with him. Until then, she’ll twist most of the toms around her little finger. She doesn’t seem to like other toms flirting with her, however; when Alonzo tries, she hisses at him. Bombalurina shares a close relationship with Demeter, and it is the belief of many CATS Fans that they’re sisters. She doesn’t appear to like Grizabella all that much, and she probably has some connection with Macavity, since both she and Demeter know so much about him. Some people say they were mates at one point. Who can tell?
CATS Spotter’s Guide Entry:
When looking for Bombalurina, check the nearest batch of queens. She rises (at least) six inches taller than most queens, even more at times, all depending on the queen. The sides of her headfur go out farther than those of most cats. A majority of her coat is red, a highly distinguishable trait, considering there aren’t any other cats with red coats (except for Macavity, and I think you can tell him and Bombi apart). The rest of her coat is dotted with brownish-reddish spots, with a white chest and a sort of bib on her back. She wears a spiked collar, and a leather biker glove on one paw, as if she’s tryin’ to imitate her boyfriend Tugger. If you can’t see her (as if), look for Demeter. She might be near there.
Name Origin:
Probably a combination of ‘bomb’—an explosive device—and ‘ballerina’—a type of dancer, who dances (guess what) ballet! While the first term, bomb, suits her, due to her personality and flirtatious habits (break a guy’s heart, make him feel like a bomb was dropped on him, get it?), ballerina doesn’t really fit her personality. She doesn’t have that ‘delicate’ ballet style. Her dance style is more like Sealink’s, from The Wild Road and The Golden Cat—designed to attract the toms.
Other Comments:
What more can be said about Bombalurina? Like I said before, it’s my belief that she and Demeter are sisters. If you don’t believe it, I’m not the only one that thinks so, so talk to someone else. Also, it’s not that hard to believe that she was Macavity’s mate at one point (I can just see them together), but I don’t personally think that. Other than that, well, there’s nothing more to be said about that!
