I began designing my first home page during
In loving memory of Matthew Shepard...
"Scarecrow" by Melissa Etheridge
But the torture you and burned you
I can't forget hard as I try
Scarecrow crying
This was our brother
We're all much too civilized
But they are knocking on our front door
I search my soul
Scarecrow crying
Spring Break of 1998.
Its primary purpose was to inform people of les/bi/gay issues.
I became frustrated due to the lack of hits I was receiving and began to
expand my page.
However, my primary
purpose began to be over-shadowed by my
other interests, which included RPGs and music.
So, I moved the RPG info to a different URL.
The other day, I again noticed the same over-shadowing I did before.
So, I decided to make this page:
My Rainbow Haven.
And everyone else who has fought
for and/or died for our rights...
Showers of your crimson blood
Seep into a nation calling up a flood
Of narrow minds who legislate
Thinly veiled intolerance
Bigotry and hate.
They beat you and the tied you
They left you cold and breathing
For love the crucified you.
This silhouette against the sky.
Waiting to die; wondering why
Scarecrow trying
Angels will hold; carry your soul away.
This was our son
This shepherd young and mild
This unassuming one
We all gasp; this can't happen here.
Where can these monsters hide.
They're rocking in our cradles
They're preaching in our churches
And eating at our tables.
My heart and in my mind
To try and find forgiveness
This is someone's child
With pain unreconciled
Filled up with father's hate
Mother's neglect
I can forgive
But I will not forget.
Waiting to die; wondering why
Scarecrow trying
Rising above in the name of love.
